Technology may alter the evolution of the human race over the next 100,000 years, dividing society into a genetically wealthy upper class, and a goblin-like lower class consisting of mostly undesirable features.

According to evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry of the London School of Economics, the human race will improve genetically over the next thousand years, until a reliance on technology and other factors instill a gradual decline in Homo Sapien genetics. The report, which will be featured on a Bravo TV documentary, suggests the tendency for human beings to be increasingly selective about sexual partners will create a sharp divide in humanity, with the cream rising to the top and hideous goblin-like individuals falling to the bottom.

The alleged genetic upper class will be between 6 and 7 feet tall, said Curry. These members of society will embody all that is valued both physically and mentally in other human beings. These people will be slim, healthy, attractive, and intelligent, with lifespans as long as 120 years. Men will have sharp jaws, lower voices, better athletic skills, and bigger penises. Women, on the other hand, will have smooth, hairless skin, larger eyes, pert breasts and glossy hair. Racial differences will also continue to disappear as a result of continuous inter-breeding, with all humans eventually adopting a light brown, coffee-colored skin hue.

Curry also suggested that those who display fewer attractive features than undesirable ones will progress a genetic lower-class, which eventually could split into a whole sub-species of human. These individuals would be short, squat, ugly and dim-witted, not unlike the Morlock creatures foretold in H.G. Wells’ 1895 novel The Time Machine.

i see two much more likely scenarios:

1) tech advances to the point where genes can be easily manipulated and altered, in which case there won't be two races of humans, one rich and smart and beautiful, and one hideous and useless, but instead there will be literally thousands of creative types with (we are talking about 1,000 years after all) some people actually changing their genetic structure and bodies so that over a lifetime you yourself would experience being more than one species -- a careful reading of say john varley might give this guy a clue -- most of these thousands of species would be strong, smart, and beautiful in their own way, and anyone looking like a goblin would likely be doing it as some kind of art statement

2) civilization collapses and it's the usual short, brutish, miserable, endless war and rapine which if nothing else keeps the old homo sapiens genes shaken if not stirred

i just don't see a "two class" option at all, it will be many species or it will be the same old one perhaps in more challenging circumstance

in this guy's scenario, why would the upper class even put up with the goblins at all, if they are so highly evolved, wouldn't they have robots and they could just wipe out the goblins? after all, the assumption is that the upper class despises the lower class enough to not even fuck them, when we know from human history that at least some frat boys will even fuck a chicken when they're horny...nope, i just don't get his theory at all, can't see why you would tolerate a "goblin" do you?

They've already asked the question of why beautiful people mating with beautiful people doesn't create perfect beauties, and the answer is that to be adaptable, sacrifices are involved.

Genetic modification will indeed lead to entire new species, but I always suspected these "intellectual elite"(read: greatly inferior) want such a technology only for themselves and their children, and as you say, have robots for servants or a few chosen(also altered) slaves for such a purpose.

How would they do that? They've been studying eugenics for more than 100 years, and they seem bent on causing WWIII or some similar global catastrophe(global warming/peak oil/GMO starvation) to reduce the population to about 325 million.

Will they succeed? That would be the question.

I can easily envision the social structure that would reinforce a 2-class society, even more rigorously than today. It would be brutal and dehumanizing, and it will be proclaimed as natural selection by numerous Hitlers to come.

Masters and slaves. At least the Romans eventually added some legal protections for their slaves, lived in the same house with them, and weren't disposed to look on them as subhumans. Modern man will have no such compunctions.
