Some Aspects Of This Campaign Are Too Delicious For Words: Rush At War With Huck!

“Before today, radio host Rush Limbaugh has -- in his own words -- "studiously avoided" attacking presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. That silence ended today, after an anonymous Huckabee "ally" was quoted trashing Rush as a DC insider who is secretly rooting for a President Hillary Clinton.

"The Huckabee campaign is trying to dumb down conservatism in order to get it to conform with his record," Limbaugh said today, during an extended session of Huckabee-bashing.

The Huckabee camp, perhaps inadvertantly, set off the fire yesterday when Marc Ambinder published this quote from someone aligned with the campaign:

Rush doesn't think for himself. That's not necessarily a slap because he's not paid to be a thinker--he's an entertainer. I can't remember the last time that he has veered from the talking points from the DC/Manhattan chattering class. If they were praising Huckabee, he would be too.

Ouch. If that weren't enough to peeve the king of AM radio, the quote ends: Bill Clinton made Rush a megastar. Having another Clinton back in power would make him the Leading Voice of the Opposition once again.” Cont…

1. In other words,
nothing to do with political philosophy or (gasp) what is best for this nation, just what keeps Pimple Butt as the mouthpiece of rightwing nuts.

Quell surprise.

2. I'm Loving This
No more republicon lock-step. Just like rats they're gnawing each other's legs off. Would love to see Huck as their nominee, so many of their heads would be spinning off their necks.

5. What's even more delicious
The Huck would seem to be the perfect Repug poster boy - Southern conservative, religious fundamentalist, anti-gay, anti-abortion, hell, not even divorced.

What's scaring them stuff less is he isn't a hypocrite; he really believes this crap and means to push it through. He's their Huey Long.

10. I think the corporate puppet masters are beginning to realize
they may not be able to run Huck; he isn't in their pocket.

Romney is 100% corporate. The Gule has so much dirt under his finger nails that a couple of spankings by the media will keep him in line. McCain might want to go his own way, but he's shown he'll fold like origami when the pressure put on. Plus, if by some horrible chain of events he does make it to the WH, he isn't going to last four years - his health. So, the right VP, Romney let's say, a nice 'balanced' ticket and they wait for the inevitable.

22. How do you "dumb down" condervativism, anyway?
I'd have figured that the "philosophy" hit absolute rock bottom right about Reagan's second term. Is Chucklebee using baby-talk or something?

6. Rush's heyday was during the Clinton years
When he could whine and bitch and moan about everything that happened.

The last 7 years, with Bush in control, he has a harder time coming up with blame for all the fuck ups in the government

Rush would do extremely well (even better) with his base if Hillary were elected. He could whine incessantly

17. They don't trust the Huckster anymore than we do...
They are afraid he is a dreaded liberal. He might raise their taxes to pay for social programs because he might actually take his religion seriously. He doesn't know his place. Romney is supposed to be the candidate and everyone is supposed to get behind him. He is a businessman.

19. The GOP race is turning into a cage match
This is going to be so great to watch! The vast right wing conspiracy is going after Huckabee with full force. Huckabee's campaign manager, Ed Rollins, will retaliate.

24. Another must-read on this same topic.....
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/huckabee-the-gops-cynic_b_77165.html

It's interesting to watch just how out of touch the GOP is with it's base: The two most popular Republican candidates (Paul and now Huckabee) are loathed by Party controllers.

27. "Rush as a DC insider who is secretly rooting for a President Hillary Clinton."
Like this should be a surprise?

Oxyboy has always thought that a "President Hillary Clinton" would return him to the thrilling days of yesterday. The others of his ilk (Insanity, Coultergeist, Wild-Eyed Malkin, et al) are counting on a coming Dem Administration to keep the money rolling in. But for Rush it's more. It's a way of canceling all the bad publicity (drug use, all the divorces, the Blue pills) and getting back to when he was King of the Trough.
