CNN's Tony and the Gals....is This the New Look for CNN with more Media Dereg?
Edited on Sat Dec-22-07 06:11 PM by KoKo01
Being a DU Political Junkie...I surf ...and it seems that the Weekend News Sucks. There's MSNBC with wall to wall Crime Shows or Celebrity Life Style or CNN which used to have some News Coverage. But, about two months ago they started doing this stuff with Anchor Tony and "Gals" that is Bizarre! Tony jumps up and down in his seat with contant Exclamations about everything...including the Weather Reports.. Is he on drugs or something to be that "high" on the "exclmation meter" with every sentence? Then there's this thing about "Guys & Gals" going on where there's cute banter but it's always "The Guy" against the "Gals" whether it's Weather Reporting or News.

I see the same thing on MSNBC during the weekdays with Scarborough Show "Morning Joe." Seems it's "Guy's against the Dolls" whether it's the great looking Gal who is their Weather Person or Mika who is portrayed as the wife or galfriend who just "can't get a word in" with all those loud guys... Her father being Zbigny Brezinksy...would make one wonder what this is about....and Joe (dead intern) and Willy (entertainment reporter?) plus assorted guests makes it a "mish mosh" for female trashing.

And throw in Tony on CNN going on about Oral Sex with young girls and Brittany's Sister pregnant at 16 plus the other gory rapes and missing women...and I wonder why I haven't pulled my cable out of the wall.

How are you folks with young children dealing with this? Should MSM now be X-RATED or SEXIST RATED for a new world who doesn't find trashing women and language that's designed to get folks up out of their chairs like when Scarborough said "My ASS?" Would an Anchor yelling :wtf: be appropriate in these times?

Is this the NEW FACE of the MEDIA? Let's show those "Feminists" that they lost it all IOWD's "...we don't wan't no bra burners around here..or any PC Talk" ...because "It's a Man's World?" And, let's put on "Jive Talkers" who jump outta their seats in shock at every sentence they read?

Anyone else notice that things have changed in the MSM? And, are you okay with it?

1. I quit watching a loooong time ago.
The last straw for me was on CNN when one of the cutsie anchorwomen did a story and followed it by whispering, "And ladies, HE'S A BACHELOR!" followed by lots of cutsie squirming in her chair. I almost threw up on my shoes. That was the end except for once on CBS? NBC? ABC? One of those awful morning shows when I needed the local morning weather break and I saw women coming out in certain outfits and men judging if their attire was appropriate for the office. I refuse to watch and the fact that it has gone this far does not surprise me one little bit.

3. It's gotten worse....I'm waiting for an anchor to show his Erection on TV to promote
one of the "great new drugs"...and as for the squirming female anchors...they jump around on the set so much...they are like "jumping beans." :eyes: It's definitely a change for "more worse" than when YOU a loooooong time ago give up watching. You might have a stroke if you saw what they are doing now! It's really sad...when so many females worked so hard to try to get authenticity for our brains and bodies not being subservient to the Popular Male Culture to see us portrayed this way. I feel sad that our Males in our society are represented by steroid users who "bulk up" and that both males and females adore them.

That we've become a Regis and Kathy Lee Culture on Steroids and Bulked Hype is very disturbing. But, not enough folks are bothered by this ....I guess. When some of us are gone off the Planet...who will be left to wonder about the cultural implications for our society by this manipulation by Drug Companies and Media Conglomerates? I suspect America will be the "Good Germans" until the end..

6. Thanks
It's hard to find anything to watch in the a.m. while getting ready for work; even Wash. Journal on CSpan has nothing but wing nuts on anymore. It's pretty bad when you turn on the weather channel to keep your sanity,.

DO THEY THINK NO ONE NOTICES THIS?

7. Thanks for your description.
I cancelled cable television around June, 2002. I keep my television in the closet, but in an emergency, I can pull it out to watch a fuzzy Bill Moyers on PBS.

I was upset with cable when I cancelled it. I can't imagine paying for what you described.

13. I get the weather report on the radio.
The only reason I get fuzzy reception instead of absolutely no reception is that after 9/11, the antenna was moved back to the Empire State Building. When the antenna was on the WTC, only snow and static for me. No idea whether the television was tuned into a channel or not.

It took courage to get rid of cable, but then I discovered the fuzzy reception, and didn't feel so cut off. Now that the television is inconveniently located in the closet, I rely entirely on the radio for the weather report, and the internet for news.

At least I don't have cable giving me an ulcer. It's better this way.

5. Its beyond my comprehension. I'm also glad I'm not the only one
who can't bear the rantings and hyperbolic speech and mannerisms of "Tony" on CNN. WTF is he on, seriously? Its just creepy. I don't understand why MSNBC is wall to wall Doc Blocks and hour long "investigations" of missing and wrongly convicted people. They have 24 hrs to report the news. They don't do it. Its all entertainment, just noise. I don't get PBS.. its been cut off here. They only let us have about a half hour of KO before they make him start doing "entertainment".. then for the last half hour its Oddball or Worst Persons or Brittany. I get my news here. There's simply no other place to get it. I haven't bought a local newspaper in years and the local news is drivel. Corporate driven news is tantamount to no news at all. And we wonder why America doesn't know who to vote for.

11. Trashing women seems to be ok everywhere. But say anything against the penis-bearing and
you have a real fight on your hands.

12. One Day After The Vote...
Want to see what the FCC's ruling did on Wednesday? On Thursday, no sooner was the ink dry, Sam Zell purchased the Chicago Tribune company. Not just the Tribune, but its other papers...the LA Times, New York Daily News as well as a large numbr of TV stations. Had this not been rammed through, he would have had to sell off the print (and its internet assets as well...can't forget about those)...it added a lot of value to the deal. Zell used to own Jacor Media who canibalized a lot of smaller companies and then sold out to Clear CHannel (who is having problems with their financing with Bain Capital...Mittens???) and now will turn around and sell these properties to the highest bidder...either Murdoch or Clear Channel or Time/Warner...take his nice profit and wait for the next raiding opportunity.

CNN's daytime "news" is a waste now. I used to have CNN on in my office 24/7, not any longer. Tony Balogna and the vapid bobblehead anchors are a joke. What little real news they report is blown aside by some moronic "report" that surely is paid for with some hidden corporate agenda.

Thank goodness for the Internet...the information is just a click away...far from the corporate media filters.

14. I didn't know Zell had jumped in that fast... Thanks for the warning.
So...even if our Dems try to nix that deal the FCC made...Sam Zell has gotten what he wanted and will get a "grandfather clause" if our Dems are successful. Zell might get what he wanted...but others wont if Dems manage to overturn it. The fair thing would have been for Zell to be put on HOLD...but Dems aren't really doing things that way...are they. :-(
