I am a Liberal, or Progressive if you wish, I am a Leftist and Liberal.
.. Progressive is a better word.
.. We have helped the U.S.A... BE PROUD....AND, I AM VERY PROUD........

Yes, I am Progressive............
..............Many think that is bad. I do not.
..............I am proud of what we believe and have done.
A. We are responsible for Social Security- old age pensions.
B. We are responsible for disability pensions for those who are disabled.
C. We are responsible for the law that feeds many of the poor through
food stamps..That law also helps many who are out of jobs with food
till they get a job.
D. We are responsible for the insurance that has protected the banks and saving
and loans...Your savings are protected up to l00,000 dollars in an insured
bank or savings and loan. If crooked bankers steal the money,(which happened in the late 80s) yours will be
insured, you will lose nothing.Perhaps a depression or severe recession was prevented.
E. We are responsible for Medicare. Know anyone over 65, who gets help to pay their medical bills? ( Republicans and Conservatives were consistently and always against it, as they were against Social Security, look it up if you want)
Without it, many seniors would be broke, as would their children...
F. We are responsible for the civil rights laws that have tried to bring equality to Afro-Americans, and insured their rights to vote.
G. We are strongly in favor of the lst Ammendment to the Constitution, separateing church and state.
H. We are for insureing privacy, and against government intrusion into our lives, for ordinary private citizens.
J. We were responsiblefor the laws that set up Head Start which has helped poor children around the country get better education..
K. We believe in the "freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." If you disagree with us, we do not call you names or "unpatriotic".
L. We believe in separation of powers, that one branch should not control all branches. (even when the Dems were in complete control in 60s it was wrong)
M. We passed legislation that helped with student loans and grants to poor and needy students.
N. Some of our programs have failed and we will admit it. We are not perfect, but we strive to do better.
O. We passed the first and consistently proprosed increases in the minimum wages for people who barely earn enough to live on.
................enough?......., enough for me...

1. OTOH, conservatives have never accomplished a single good thing for America.
Nothin!

Conservatives give us secret wars, Joe McCarthys, the 'War' on Drugs, the Patriot Act and other unconstitutional incursions, Impeachment for BJs, Terry Schiavo, lower wages, fewer jobs, less oversight, and more finger-pointing.

But never anything good. Conservative Republicans do nothing but evil.
