Tin pot dictator Musharraf was incapable of keeping one woman alive
And people believe he can "protect" the nukes?

Not very likely.

2. In all fairness to Musharraf--Bhutto was very brave, and put herself
"out there" with the people. She knew it was risky, and that she was a target--all the security in the world might not have stopped a determined assassin. I honestly don't think Musharraf wanted her dead, because he's not on the firmest ground himself--last thing he needs is even more public uprisings against him.

6. I agree. With the crowds following Bhutto everywhere she went,
how in the world could anybody protect her? We can't protect presidents here in the US when the crowds get large and unruly, so how could anybody do it in Pakistan where the problems are probably double those here?

7. So should our presidential candidates stop campaigning when they draw large crowds?
Thats kind of what it sounds like you are suggesting.

3. Just like the door guards, bouncers, and security at a nightclub ...
... they can easily keep out anyone they want to - and let in those to whom they turn a blind eye. It's not a matter of effective moats and barricades as it is a matter of the tunnels of corruption allowed.

4. Even better, Americans insist Bhutto go to Pakistan, don't protect her.
Karzai has Marines guarding him. Why nothing for Bhutto?

Iirc, we are protecting the nukes. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/18/washington/18nuke.html?ei=5088&en=a72239ba9faeb594&ex=1353042000&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&pagewanted=all

8. More likely it's a case of "Iron hand dictator was capable of ensuring death of political rival"
Musharraf didn't get to the top of the heap in Pakistan by being incompetent.
