Okay. I just don't know how to use KOS! Is there a way to see "all" threads? And how does one "troll |
|
rate " and what does it mean? How do you "rec"?I don't find any instructions anywhere.I truly find having to click open every thread in order to read a diary annoying! DU is much more "user friendly" Any advice??

1. I just figured I wasn't smart enough for KOS |
|
:dunce: or I needed a bigger screen.

2. I am SO glad I'm not the only one who can't navigate it. I come here and read |
|
all these posts and diaries from Kos, then try to go there myself and its simply annoying, or I'm just Kos-Illiterate. Either way, I much prefer DU for ease of reading, navigating and it's surely easier on the eyes.

4. IIRC, first you have to have an account |
|
You can't recommend without being signed in. Then I think you have to be a trusted user to troll rate and I've got no idea how long that takes because I've never used the site long enough to have it happen. There is a way to change the way the threads are seen. I'd be happy to PM you through it because I think it would have to be a step by step thing to see where you need to go at each point. Or maybe somebody else is a better explainer.

5. In never figured them out either. DU is the most user friendly site there is! |
|
The Admins should pat themselves on the back for DU's user friendliness.

6. I don't know where Kos hides all its diaries, either. They don't seem chronological-- |
|
there's featured stuff, then there's the stuff on the side, then there's the recommended stuff, but when I use their search feature (which is better than ours, by the way), I find diaries/stories/threads that I couldn't find otherwise. I guess they assign points for a diary or comment sounding like a troll, and also rec individual comments. That whole tip jar thing must be a way to rec the diary. And what's the difference between a "diary" and a "story"? Not user friendly.

9. There's a link on the front page for the Diaries |
|
And yes, you have to sign up first before you can read all of the comments. Once that's done, you click Diaries on the right top side of the front page, find the diary you're interested in and click "there's more" and that brings you to the full page with comments. To see all of the comments at one time, click expand. It takes a bit of digging, but 3 or 4 clicks and you're there.
Also, I think members can only post one diary a day.

8. I thought I was probably the only person in the world |

who couldn't figure out how to make sense of Daily Kos. I stop by there once in a while but can't make heads or tails of it. I count on this site and TPM for my news.
