Police say political dispute with stranger got physical
"A Fredericksburg man was arrested Saturday on charges he assaulted three strangers at their home during a dispute over politics, police said.

According to a Fredericksburg police report, the suspect went to a home in the 900 block of Marye Street about 5:30 p.m. after finding one of the resident's name on a Republican Web site.

The resident and his two roommates engaged in a discussion with the suspect, though none of them had ever met or had contact with him before.

The argument got heated and the suspect learned that the young residents had not enlisted in the military and "put their all" behind the Republican-led war effort in Iraq, police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said."

4. The last sentence makes it clear that it can't have been one of us:
"It was not clear in the report what political agenda Stone was supporting.

Doesn't sound like any DUer I know!

5. I thought that was strange.
There are a couple sentences in this that I think are worded rather strangely. I hope they do a follow-up to this story because I think there's more to it than they are saying.

3. can't say I blame the guy. Of course, I'm sure the GOP cowards aren't as innocent as they claim
in the matter.

6. Snarky reponse 1. It couldn't have been a Democrat/liberal
because "everyone knows" Democrats/liberals are "wussies" and this guy took on three "tough guy" republicans.

Snarky response 2. The article said Stone "hunted them down" and "everyone knows" Democrats/liberals aren't hunters.

/end snarky responses

I'd like to know at what republican website he found this guy's address and what the republican said that might have prompted this.

I'd also like to see this kid face some serious consequences that include anger management. You just don't go looking for someone to confront just because you can. This is waaaaay over the line.

And finally, I sincerely hope this an isolated incident.

7. Okay, here's a scenario - yeah, I've been googling -
Edited on Tue Feb-20-07 09:07 PM by Cerridwen
they don't list Stone's political affiliation - howzabout this for a scenario

Andrew Stone is 23.
About senior year college?
What about ROTC senior year college?
Guess where he's going after graduation?

Now, Stone's reading some republican website (he agrees with?) and the lead chickenhawk who lives at the address in which the alleged assault takes place, posts some snarky crap about military or questions a post of Stone's in which he claims to be military or shipping out soon or some such. You know, "yeah, tough guy, sure you are. I bet you're one 'o those wussie libruls" kind of crap.

Stone gets pissed and goes hunting for 'fellow republicans' who are chickenhawks and calls 'em on it?

Just some supposition.

Ah, huh. I've been googling.

edit to add: yeah, I was bored, too. :P

8. I was just getting ready to post something similar.

I'm not convinced it was a Democrat, either. The article is worded so strangely it makes me think there is more to the story than they are saying.

10. Yeah, it was indeed weird.
Edited on Tue Feb-20-07 09:27 PM by Cerridwen
That's what sparked my interest.

You'd think if he was a Democrat that would have made for more fantastic headlines; which I'm not sure media can resist?

:D

edit to add: I'm afraid if it's discovered that they were attacked by a fellow republican, I may

           for days.

Shame on me!
