I haven't had any problems with the FREE Real Player. ;)
And I have all the players installed and no problems.

5. I did see the show, although I thought it was too gentle...
to qualify as a rant. But, he comes across as a gentle guy.

I've liked Craig Ferguson since he was on Drew Carey's show. As a talk show host, he is even better. His style is really refreshing after years and years (and years) of irony-based humor. I used to be a huge fan of that style (Letterman, O'Brien), but now it has lost its edge.

Ferguson is just funny. He tells funny stories, he's self-deprecating, he's flirtatious and tries to please.

His speech on alcoholism last night was brave, honest and earnest.

I'm glad someone else noticed, Breeze54!

76. "People are dying out there"
"She died."

So true. Anna Nicole Smith was in trouble too. Dr. Drew (Pinsky) worried openly recently about Brittny falling into the same fate. I think it's wonderful for someone like Ferguson to give a damn -- when all the rest of the world (almost) is ridiculing and making fun and gawking and trying to find their 15 minutes of fame at Anna Nicole's expense (including an absolutely criminally insane JUDGE, for cryin' outloud), it's wonderful for someone to speak up for hergive her just a smidgeon of dignity in death.

More than she's gotten around here, that's for sure.

You go, Ferguson!

Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 01:21 AM by rocknation
I have no idea why that was necessary, but being able to hear Ferguson made me glad that I made the extra effort--which, ironically, underscores his message.

If you're lucky, "hitting bottom" is terrible and wonderful at the same time--terrible because you realize you're there, and wonderful because you realize that there's nowhere to go but up. I hope Britney looked at her shaved, tattooed self the mirror, realized that's she's hit bottom, joined the "right" kind of rehab program, and actually WANTS to get well this time. But hope is ALL we can do--as Craig made it so clear, the rest is up to her.

which ended when she married and became a mother, causing her employers to trade her in for a younger model. I think that's at the root of all her problems.

38. Well; I think
she was used and abused by "handlers" who didn't give a crap that she was 'just a kid'.
She was only 12 yrs. old on Mickey Mouse. And it grew from there.
I think she's been a vehicle for their growth in wealth and they forgot about the person,
the immature person, named Brittany.

She never had a chance to mature. That's different from becoming of age.

She never had a chance to mature...emotionally, in her own right.

The adults around her were calling the shots. She is a $$ tree, to them!!

She needs the rehab to finally, get in touch, with who she really is....

.... inspite of Mom or Dad and the managers and all the others that have their hands extended.

JMO.

I vote ...Give her a chance.

That was part of the interview about the positive responses to his BSpears monologue.

OVERWHELMINGLY positive about his alcoholism monologue (people are forgetting that Britney was only a tiny portion of it), but CF said he'd have said it, good OR ill responses. AND no matter what CBS thought.

66. You're welcome
It's sad to think that a comedian is wiser and better grounded than just about every "journalist" and politician who make decisions affecting the lives of others.

72. Thank you SO much! That was wonderful
Funny too ("a vente sherry") in parts, but... wow, that was good. So honest.

What a great guy. My crush isn't just based on his eyes, wittiness, and accent.

(P.S. When did he start wearing a tie? I know he didn't used to--did he start and I didn't notice, or did he dress up for this?)
