Word of the Day: "Misrecollected"- Libby, Libby Libby trial
“If it turned out that what he said was wrong that doesn’t mean he is a liar,” Mr. Wells told the jury. “It means he may have misrecollected what happened.”

Mr. Wells, of course, is Mr. Libby's attorney, and that was part of his sob story summation, according to the http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/21/washington/21libby.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin">New York Times.

If i may recount a little ancient history. A man by the name of Ron Ziegler was Richard Nixon's Press Secretary. He famously said, during the Watergate time, that a "previous statement is no longer operative". (although i seem to remember hearing that he simply acknowledged what a reporter said to him "So that previous statement is no longer operative" and he answered affirmatively.) Whatever the case, it was repeated and ridiculed over and over. It reinforced that Nixon could not be trusted.

When the language gets strange and twisted, you know they are getting desperate.

3. Try that crap with the IRS and see what happens.
I tried that very same excuse.

And you know the rest of that story.

7. Misunderestimated?
Man, I haven't thought about that "Libby, Libby, Libby" ad jingle in DECADES. And, of course, it's still all in there, unlike trigonometry or sentence-diagramming.

"If it says Libby, Libby, Libby,
On the label, label, label,
You will like it, like it, like it,
On your table, table table.
It says Libby, Libby, Libby
On the label, label, label."

What the hell was that stuff, anyway? Pudding? Shelf-stable Jello? I seem to recall my mother buying some and deciding it was pretty foul.

9. I think, if I haven't misremembered, it was veggies-
the canned kind! OMG, I haven't thought of that ad in years.

On the off-track - I wish I were an Oscar Meyer _____________. OK, from here, we'll have to take it to the Lounge! :P

11. New version of the jingle:
"When it says Libby Libby Libby on the label label label, it means testimony given, is mostly fable fable fable."
