The ISI's mega computer might not be the stuff of fantasy... Remember PROMIS?
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 05:58 PM by ck4829
"Benazir Bhutto was poised to reveal proof that Pakistan's election commission and shadowy spy agency were seeking to rig an upcoming general election the night she was assassinated, a top aide said on Tuesday.

Senator Latif Khosa, who authored a 160-page dossier with Bhutto documenting rigging tactics, said they ranged from intimidation to fake ballots, and were in some cases unwittingly funded by U.S. aid.

Bhutto had been due to give the report to two visiting U.S. lawmakers over dinner on Dec. 27, the day she was killed in a suicide bombing.

...

Khosa said the ISI also had a "mega computer" which could hack into any computer and was connected to the Election Commission's system."

Call it a hunch, I will admit that I have no facts to back up what I say, but when I saw "mega computer", I immediately thought of PROMIS.

In the 1980's, the Reagan Administration contracted the IT company Inslaw to enhance and purchase from them a database system known as the Prosecutor's Management Information System, or PROMIS. Apparently though, the Reagan Administration and his Justice Department did some work on it themselves I'm not sure.

Anyway, the Administration decided, in my opinion, to ruin Inslaw after this. They decided to stop paying Inslaw for their services and in a couple of years, the company had to file for bankruptcy. Imagine if Bush decided to stop payments for Halliburton or Blackwater, something was definitely up.

May seem like just a database system, but Robert Hanssen, a spy, tried to send copies of the modified PROMIS system to some KGB agents. During all of this, the Administration distributed copies of this new system around the world, all the places where they went? Nobody knows, so it is certainly a possibility that a copy went to Pakistan.

Also, a 'suicided' person is connected to all of this. Danny Casolaro, who was investigating this, turned up dead in a motel bathtub in 1991. Although officially said to be a suicide, there was the appearance that someone tried to clean up the blood splattered all over the room he killed himself in.

As I said before, I don't have any facts to tell whether some modified form of PROMIS is connected to Bhutto's death or not. However plenty of questions remain as to what the modified PROMIS did, so I am just making a guess into this assassination that is getting stranger by the day.
