I would still think this is a good idea for me.

I have resolved not to read any right-wing blogs ever again. Not even poke my nose into them. Not even on a "know thy enemy" principle.

Because I used to do it, sometimes, just for the sake of saying that I don't automatically close my mind to a whole point of view. That I like to see what everyone has to say and then make up my mind. Or at least keep up with what nonsense is being spewed this week by whom.

But I've decided it's just not worth it. The more of them I look at, the more the incredible leaps of logic and general lack of ability to form an intelligent argument, even from people who appear to have some brains, simply make my head hurt. I can no longer deal with all the warped thinking. I just can't.

Nope, wingnuts, it's not "You can't handle the truth!" More like, "I can't handle the bullshit!"

I've seen enough for me to know that when it comes to crazy thinking, there is a far greater balance of it to be found on conservative Web sites and blogs than on liberal, progressive or left-wing ones. Sure, there are some illogical arguments and stupid things being said on those too, but not nearly in the same vast quantities. Just as I can occasionally find a cogent argument on a right-wing site, but I no longer feel it worth my while to wade through those barnsful of manure just to see whether there's a pony in there somewhere. And they keep repeating it over and over and over again, as if that will ever make a lie true...

And all of it framed by ads featuring busty blonde chicks wearing asinine T-shirts with things on them like "The NRA, Protecting My Right to Blow Your Pansy Liberal Ass to Smithereens Since 1871" or making faces saying "EWWWWW! I just can't DATE another LIBERAL guy! They've got COOTIES!!"

NO...NO...can't...take...crapola...anymore...Must...stop...

There's no more need for me to look at this garbage. I will stay away and keep my head from exploding trying to figure out how people can be so goddamn stupid or blind. I think I will sleep better tonight because of it.
