"Comedian" Jackie Mason has jumped the shark.
I guess he decided to join assholes like Hal Lindsey and Chuck Norris.

2. Foul! Improper invocation of the Fonz.
In order to jump the shark, you have to initially be cool and/or entertaining, then become lame. Jackie Mason was lame initially, thus there was never any point at which he could jump the shark.

Ironically, "Happy Days" actually jumped the shark YEARS before Fonzie jumped the shark.

9. Actually he did it to avoid the draft

The deal was that if enough people (35) depended upon you for employment you would be exempted from the draft. Starring in a TV show met those conditions. Don't know for sure iff it was ever put to the test.

Also he starred in the "pilot" for Happy Days, an episode of Love American Style, before he did American Graffitti.

11. Really?
The show premiered after the draft was abolished.

I remember on the old sitcom "My Three Sons" both Mike (the original oldest son pre-Ernie being adopted) and Robbie were in the National Guard. I'm not sure what Mike Considine who played Mike's situation was but Don Grady who played Robbie actually was in the National Guard. And in fact the show used to say he was on active duty during the weeks when the actor really was on active duty. He got a special "dispensation" to keep his hair somewhat longer than military length

13. True but there was almost some overlap
Happy Days premiered in January of 1974. The selective service ended in January of 1973.

But registration continued until 1975 and there may have been some concern that the draft itself could have been restarted.

Anyway, Ron Howard himself told this story on an episode of Biography. Most likely negotiation started earlier than 1974 as the Love American Style episode was in 1972.

17. I loved Sam Levinson
He reminded me of one of my professors -- even the same kind of jokes to start class.
