1. And I just saw a thread where the NYT is stating it, too. What does
RICHARDSON himself say? That's who I'd believe.

6. here is what I found
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2581026

from that link a linked source reports:

Robert Becker, Iowa director of the Bill Richardson for President campaign, took particular offense with reports circulated this morning that his campaign was encouraging non-viable supports to switch to Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

11. John Harwood is the person reporting it both for MSNBC and the NYT
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/03/obama-will-get-richardsons-second-choice-votes/

and if you notice it has one unamed campaign advisor saying the deal is on:
After earlier winning the support of Dennis Kucinich, Obama’s campaign has reached an agreement with Bill Richardson for the second-choice votes of Richardson supporters in caucuses where the New Mexico governor can’t clear the threshold for competition, according to a senior Obama campaign adviser. The adviser estimated that the deal puts Mr. Obama in position to claim support from roughly half of the 15 percent of Democratic caucus-goers expected to support second-tier candidates.

and another named saying it isn't true:
The national spokesman for Mr. Obama’s campaign, Bill Burton, said word of a deal “isn’t true.”

There’s all sorts of rumors flying around on caucus day. TPM Election Central reported a similar story from the HuffPo about Joe Biden, that also turned out to be false. It’s anyone’s guess at this point what will really happen tonight.

Spin everywhere you look. Stay tuned…http://thedemocraticdaily.com/2008/01/03/richardson-not-set-to-send-obama-second-choice-support/

edit: the ed note explaining the rumor is apparent in the box before posting the message, but doesn't materialize when its posted. You'll have to read at the link.

9. Just like they said Gore won Florida ... and then he didn't .... then he did ...

... and then it occurred to them they had already said enough to make themselves look incompetent.

They never learn apparently.

12. Just Talked With A Friend In Iowa And She Says It's The HRC Campaign That's Floating These Rumors...
they are hoping to have some TV time before the caucuses to say that they think it is wrong to cut deals and that the Obama campaign is subverting the Iowa vote. They feel that this may suck off some of the 2nd choice voters because they are playing by the rules - when in fact it is them that started these rumors. These dirty tricks by the HRC people has put the Obama camp on the defensive having to debunk the rumors by saying it isn't so versus getting the people to caucus or to the caucus. Not very pretty.

14. the main reporter, however, cited having spoken with a spokesperson
for the Obama campaign. How would the Clinton folks have cooked that up?
