Huckabee "Didn't Know" He'd Have to Cross the Picket Line --->>>
This asshat took union endorsements and then he crosses a picket line? He wants to be president of the United States but he "didn't know" he'd have to cross the picket line to appear on Leno? I knew, why didn't he? Is it possible he's stupider than Pissypants?

http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/slideshow/photo//080103/photos_ts/2008_01_03t114243_450x347_us_screenwriters_strike_pix/

Huckabee appeared on Leno despite his apparent confusion about the strike and a bid by pickets to keep him away, and Clinton taped a cameo introducing Letterman.

“Dave has been off the air for eight long weeks because of the writers strike,” she said. “Tonight, he’s back. Oh, well, all good things come to an end.”

Huckabee said he supports the writers and did not think he would be crossing a picket line, because he believed the writers had made an agreement to allow late-night shows on the air. But that’s not the case with Leno. “Huckabee is a scab,” read one picket sign outside Leno’s Burbank, Calif., studio.

The writers guild urged Huckabee not to cross their picket line after he flew out to California. “Huckabee claims he didn’t know,” chief union negotiator John Bowman said. “I don’t know what that means in terms of trusting him as a future president.”

Huckabee, the one Republican contender who has regularly appeared at national union conventions and forums and who actually won an endorsement from the Machinists union, says he's 100 percent behind the Writers Guild of America members who have gone on strike in an effort to secure a fair share of the money reaped by the producers of the programs they create.

"I support the writers, by the way, unequivocally, absolutely," chirped Huckabee. "They're dead right on this one. And they ought to get royalties off the residuals and the long-term contracts."

But right does not trump political opportunity for the man who claims to embrace higher moral standards than his foes.

So Huckabee crossed the line, walking right past striking writers who held signs reading, "Huckabee is a Scab."

6. So how come Letterman got the nod from the union.. but no one else?
Doesn't that dilute the strike and just piss off the people who are still not working on other shows? I didn't understand how that worked...

11. Letterman owns his own show.
His production company Worldwide Pants owns Late Night and also Craig Ferguson's show. The WGA negotiated an interim agreement with Worldwide Pants which agreed to all the terms they were asking of the producers' organization, which walked away from the table and refused to negotiate. Leno and Conan's shows are owned by NBC so they aren't able to negotiate on their own.

12. Letterman Owns His Own Company
Worldwide Pants is an independent producer and could cut a deal with its own writers and the WGA...Letterman also owns the Ferguson show. Leno, Conan, TDS and Colbert are owned by their respective networks who haven't come to terms with the union.

Letterman agreed to all the union demands and hopefully he's not dilluted the union cause but strengthened it by using his show as a platform to bring out the writer's plight (as he did in spades last night) and forcing the other networks to follow his lead or be at a competitive advantage in the "Late Night" wars.

14. One of the reporters on MSNBC just said that she and her...
producer told Huck that it was Letterman, NOT Leno, who had struck a deal with the writers. She said he looked skeptical.

Maybe Huck isn't the sharpest TOOL in the drawer.
