"The President FEELS..."
Once again, the Philosophy of Stephen Colbert proves true. In truthiness we have the essence of a philosophy that one's subjective opinion, one's gut FEEL, is more true than fact itself and, furthermore, one has a right to express this subjective truthiness without the burden of justification with objective facts.

Yesterday, Tony Snow, made the following statement about Bush and our troops: "I can tell you that the President FEELS passionately about them , and you should have no doubt about it -- you've been at enough events where when he looks these people in the eye there is a commitment, a strong, profound emotional commitment to the people who serve this country. And it is one where the President is committed to doing right by the men and women who serve. There should be no doubt about that.

The FACTS:

1. Based on lies, Bush led the troops he FEELS compassionately for, into an illegal
invasion and occupation in Iraq. As of today, 9 am, Eastern, DOD report 3,148, REAL
US deaths in Iraq, 23,418 wounded.

2. The Bush administration plans to cut funding for veterans' health care two years from now — even as badly wounded troops returning from Iraq could overwhelm the system. Bush is using the cuts, critics say, to help fulfill his pledge to balance the budget by 2012.

3. Bush led these troops into Iraq without proper equipment. A full year into the war, USA Today reported that "Soldiers headed for Iraq are still buying their own body armor — and in many cases, their families are buying it for them — despite assurances from the military that the gear will be in hand before they're in harm's way."

4. Bush is extending active duty time. The Pentagon has abandoned its limit on the time a citizen-soldier can be required to serve on active duty, officials said Thursday, Until now, the Pentagon's policy on the Guard or Reserve was that members'cumulative time on active duty for the Iraq or Afghan wars could not exceed 24 months. In other words, a citizen-soldier could be mobilized for a 24-month stretch in Iraq or Afghanistan, then demobilized and allowed to return to civilian life, only to be mobilized a second time for as much as an additional 24 months.

5. And now, in FACT, our troops were mistreated in Bush's own neighborhood. "The (Washington) Post series made it clear that a bumbling, inept bureaucracy is inflicting cruel and unusual punishment on these soldiers and Marines and their families.."

1. Excellent analysis - one minor point
Bush didn't "lead" the troops anywhere. He "sent" them into an illegal occupation without the proper equipment.

5. Ha. You are so right. I heard Snow say the other day that
Bush hasn't been on the ground in Iraq so he
doesn't know what's going on, like 'you reporters
do.'

Yes, SENT them !!
