The 2008 Match-Up I Fear The Most: Clinton vs. McCain |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 07:16 PM by WillyT
Look, I'll vote for Senator Clinton if it comes to that. And as for putting a woman in the White House, I would have voted for Shirley Chisholm, Barbara Jordan, hell... Barbara Boxer. And I did vote for Geraldine Ferraro in 2004 as part of the Mondale ticket.
I just don't trust this particular woman to do what is necessary for the country. But if she's the nominee, she will get my vote.
I DO worry about her being matched up against John McCain in the general, if the rePuke establishment runs home to him and he gets their nomination. Many independents might be tempted back away from supporting the Democratic nominee if that were the case, and many conservatives that don't trust McCain, or are still angry at him, might just throw their vote his way if it means sticking the metaphorical knife into Senator Clinton.
And even if she manages to win that imagined scenario, it will be a lot closer I believe, and any sort of declared "mandate" or "landslide" will not be possible.
Other than that, have a Happy Caucus Night!

10. Merde! The pukes could run Abraham Lincoln and not win |
|
The fact that Mccain has any following at all is pure inside the beltway bullshit. 2008 is going to be the year of the Democrat, period.

That's a worst-case scenario for us, particularly without Ron Paul running as a Libertarian. It's questionable in my mind whether she can defeat McCain. Anybody else, probably. Any other Democrat, absolutely.

4. A psychic prediction I heard on the radio a few weeks ago: |
|
It'll be Clinton/Edwards vs McCain/Giuliani and Clinton will win the election.
I can't imagine McCain and Giuliani on the same ticket, and at the time of the prediction McCain was in pretty bad shape -- before his recent little bump.
For what it's worth :7

5. I am sad for you, but I have good news. |
|
I think that your dreaded matchup is going to be the general showdown. Bad news for us. I really think that HRC will be McCain.:shug:
Peace and low stress... 2008 will be our year.

6. What is it with the "fear the McCain" thing on here the last two days? |
|
I guess "fear the Thompson" and "fear the Huckabee" don't work any more and "fear the McCain" is all that's left.

19. Bexause all polls(ALL) show Obama and Clinton losing to McCain in a run-off. |
|
These are averages of all relevent polls... and they have remained remarkably consistent. This country splits loves or hates on Hillary and the latent racism eliminates Obama.
This is probably the worst scenario that Dems face. If a third party forms up the numbers get even more dismal. Maybe, just maybe Clinton could swing enough big bucks and big guns to 'swamp' some of the opposition, (this may be the reason Bill was sipping with Scaife the other day...he is playing with really mean snakes and may get bit in the ass). Obamas problem is that the racism issue will not rise to the forefront so that it can be dealt with straighforward, he has blundered through pandering to the ultra religios as well as not showing well on foreign policy and no sign of an economic plan. All the latter will be MOST convenient curtains fro the latent anti-Obama racism to hide behind...and the MSM will carefully follow the same path. Obama nationally is almost as weak a candidate in the general as say Richardson or Kucinich.

20. Relevent polls? Which are those? Ones you want to believe? |
|
The truly relevant polls are a mixture of all the accurately compiled ones. Better ones are taken many weeks after the media has gone to town on the candidates.
All the candidates have to do is tie McCain to Bush and watch the magic happen. If McCain is so strong, why is he as weak as he is in the primaries? You're going to tell me that Indie voters (who HATE Bush) are going to crossover to vote for McCain?
Sorry, I see nothing that even meekly suggests McCain is a viable contender against anyone.

8. LOL !!! - Hey I Actually Got To Meet Ferraro !!! |
|
She came to talk at my college during the campaign, and I was part of the team of students getting the event together. She gave her speech and was terrific. Later, she met with us student helpers, and was gracious as hell. She had a cold, and could have just split, but she wanted to meet with us, and thank each one of us personally.
Very classy lady!
