Action caps four days of Iowa primary protests against war in Iraq
By Mike Ferner January 3, 2008

Des Moines – Hours before voting begins in the nation’s first presidential poll, peace activists placed the Iraq war front and center again this afternoon as they occupied the Iowa headquarters of Senator Hillary Clinton for the second time since campaigning began last fall.

Over a dozen members of a campaign called “Seasons Of Discontent: A Presidential Occupation Project” (SODaPOP) went to Clinton’s office, saying they still had not gotten a response to a letter delivered in October demanding she publicly oppose any more spending for the war or occupation, and foreswear an attack on Iran.

But as the peace activists approached Clinton’s East Second Street office, staff members locked the main door and refused admittance. At a locked side door, a Clinton staff person was admitted but could not close the door before Jeff Leys, co-director of Voices for Creative Nonviolence, sat down in the doorway.

Leys, speaking on the phone as he remained in the doorway, said about another 15 peace activists were standing outside the entrance helping block it, several Clinton staffers were blocking the doorway into the office, and that no one was going in or out.

4. Yes, how dare they demand accountability....
Don't they know she has a campaign to run?

Why yes, they do.

5. Ooooh, how DARE they!!!
Why don't they get off their asses and do something constructive? These stupid little stunts only get covered in idiotic fringe publications, and no one save a few dweebs even HEAR of them.

Do they make any difference? No. They probably do more to generate sympathy for the candidates they pester.

Hubris laden bullshit. Signifying nothing.

6. Dweebs?

Actually I think they add to the general overall sense that things are not right in this country, but thanks for being condescending and insulting. Duly noted.

7. Dulying noted? That's a new turn of phrase...
Should I be "skeeered" or something?

I'm not allowed to have a dissenting opinion about a crew of clueless and ineffective assholes who do nothing but stage protests that no one save their own crowd hear about?

And it is "condescending" to point out this rather obvious fact?

:eyes:

How DARE I not march in lockstep!!

attention to your posts from now on. Having an opinion is one thing. Calling people dweebs (myself included apparently) is another.

And for the record, I have carpal-tunnel syndrome and am typing with a wrist brace, thus the mis-types.

9. Well, that's wonderful. Thank you!!! You've made my day!
It really is pointless to discuss issues with people who only want to hear from a cheering squad, so your ignoring me will save both of us from wasting time.

I have the same condition--it doesn't cause me to type unnecessary -ings at the end of words, but, hey, whatever.

10. It's not that I only want to hear from a cheering squad...
It's that I don't take serious anyone who posts rabid irrationality and calls me and people I respect dweebs and assholes.

And I did type the -ing because of the wrist brace. What a petty person you are.

11. My view of this is not "rabid irrationality"
I am not the one who is foaming at the mouth over this issue like a crazed dog with a bone.

And people who waste their time protesting to impress one another ARE, in my view, dweebs and assholes.

I don't force you to agree with me, but by the same token, don't try to hector and guilt me into agreeing with you. It won't happen.
