Haha. GOP votes for Huckabee. Morons. |
|
Just something I need to get off my mind: Did you know that there is no theory of Evolution? Only animals which Chuck Norris allows to live!
Sorry had to bring it up again...

But, I kinda like Huck, in that he is muddling up the Republican side for the other guys (mostly Mitt) just like Ron Paul is doing, but with more success. I wouldn't vote for him ever, however I will acknowledge that unlike the current occupant of the White House, he can at least construct a complete sentence. I think his win in Iowa causes Mitt to spend more money and keeps their world undefined longer, which is a good thing overall for us. Don't want them getting settled too early and swinging into a general election mode before our side sorts itself out.

2. Huckleberry has a "Creation Care" message |
|
It sounds like an extended warranty on an automobile, but this man expresses an opinion that we should be taking better care of our land and the air. It would be great to have two candidates trying to out do each other on climate protection in November.

He certainly isn't my choice for many reasons, but not everything the guy has said is bad (unless you are a Wall Street Republican) there are some points in which he makes some sense... I would be good to see the environment get more time on the campaign trail.

7. Huck was the only GOP who *bothered* to fill out a union endorsement questionnaire |
|
There is a radio show called "America's Workforce" on two Ohio radio stations that does labor and progressive news stories. One of the unions' political directors was on the show a few months ago said that they mailed their questionnaires to all of the candidates and that Hucklebee was the only one who bothered to send it back to the union. So they endorsed him.
To his credit, Huck does have an anti-globalization message. Borrowed from Sherrod. It's great to have the gops playing to *our* issue.

9. Way to shoot themselves in the foot. Did they notice that Huckster crossed the WGA picket line and |
|
then claimed he didn't know that he crossed a picket line? Sounds like a great pro-labor guy to me! /sarcasm

4. I wish him AND Romney best of luck |
|
I hope they keep their competition close, and heated.
Then Republican voters will vote in Republican primaries and not mess with the Democratic primaries.
And yes, there is no such thing as evolution. It's a scientific fact that there was a guy named Alley-Oop, and he rode on dinosaurs. Sheesh! Librals!

5. I liked one thing Huckabee said |
|
He said everyone should get to the caucuses.
But, if your neighbor is not voting for Huckabee, then shovel your snow onto their driveway, so they'll stay home.
It's pretty rare when a Republican makes me smile.

6. Huckabee's Victory and The Evangelical Republicans |
|
I suspect that Mike Huckabee's victory, following some not-so-subtle LDS-knocking at the hand of Evangelical Christian sectarians, will probably prove to be a wake-up call for those Mormons who think that American religious bigotry is still a thing of the past.
This might be good for us Democrats. If the conservative-minded LDSers of the Rocky Mountain states won't vote for the Democratic candidates, they might feel inspired to only vote for down-list GOPsters and leave their November presidential selection as a big, juicy blank.
I'd like to see the end of the days when blue states were only found in the Northeast, the Pacific Coast, and the Great Lakes states, and where one high-ranking GOP panjandrum looks at the electoral map and comments to the other "Hazel, the map. It turned BLUE."

8. So, if we wanted to make mischief in a Mormon community, we would tell them what? |
|
Is there a message that could turn them from the gop?

10. Remind Them Of The Continuing Jihad |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 08:39 AM by VogonGlory
If I were trying to work mischief in a community of Saints, I'd remind them about the Southern Baptist Convention's long-running campaign against the Latter Day Saints. Southern Baptists picketed the Temple in Salt Lake City into the 1990's, for goshsakes! A Google search would be a good first step for finding some articles, but such a search could turn up some still-active Evangelical Mormon-bashing web sites.
I suspect that if I were a member in good standing of the LDS and found a pamphlet under my windshield wiper raising questions about Huckabee and his denomination's links to Mormon-bashers, I'd be highly skeptical of any specifically Democratic or Progressive sites making such claims. A pamphleteer or blog-writer would do well to provide web addresses (or hot links if on an on-line blog) for LDS-bashing sites to remind the Saints that some folks are perfectly happy to continue the persecutions that the Saints endured from the 1840's onwards. Don't use progressive web sites as links, minimize the use of corporate media links (They don't understand religion anyway), and go heavy on SBC-affiliated or SBC affiliate-linked web sites. DON'T leave your target audience with the "Oh, that's just a liberal talking" intellectual escape hatch. Go heavy on primary sources.
A "Here, don't take our word for it, look for yourself..." approach might make a few of the religiously complacent or the politically askance. I don't know how to reach the willfully blind.

11. Will the media challenge Huckabee on his HUGE issues? |
|
1) personally lobbying for the release of rapist Wayne DuMond, who then went out and raped & murdered again.
2) calling on women to graciously submit to the leadership of their husbands.
3) saying that people with AIDS should be segregated from the rest of the populace - in 1992.
4) Loads of ethical issues to the point that those liberals at the Wall Street Journal called him a "ticking ethical time bomb."
