U.S. wants to leave Iraq "with honor," Cheney says
Nixon is ALIVE!!

TOKYO (Reuters) -
Vice President Dick Cheney said on Wednesday the United States wants to finish its mission in Iraq and "return with honor," despite the war's growing unpopularity at home and doubts among U.S. allies.

Cheney, whose visit to Tokyo comes just weeks after Japan's defense minister said starting the Iraq war was a mistake, also insisted Americans would not back a "policy of retreat."

The defense minister's remarks forced Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to scurry to reassure Washington that Tokyo's backing for U.S. policy in Iraq was unchanged, although most Japanese think that
President Bush was wrong to start the war....

1. Cheney & "honor" should not be used in the same sentence.

2. US has impregnated Iraq, Dick.
We can defer with honor the same way you did for vietnam.

In both cases, its the spawn of the devil so you should find the analogy adequate.

3. That would have required an honorable reason for going in and
honorable intentions toward the Iraqi people. Too late.

10. Yep. IIRC, he promised "Peace with Honor"
Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 11:52 AM by meldroc
in the 1968 election, then when he got elected, he kept us in Vietnam for another four years.

It took "Hanoi" Jane Fonda showing pictures of American bombers hitting dikes and inundating peasants, causing starvation, disease, etc. to make the final push to get us out of there. Though even Jane Fonda agrees that picture of her on that anti-aircraft gun was a bad idea...

12. Cheney confirms the reason for the "surge"
The obstinacy of *Co accepting defeat in Iraq is reflected in the "no honor, no retreat" policy; and they will hold on and hope to pass the debacle to the next administration to deal with.
