Observation: Obama wins Iowa caucus and DU produces several attack threads against him.
I'm even observing what's called "wedge" issues being pushed into the DU audience in addition to lies and misrepresentations most likely planted by those with far less noble intentions than ANY political arena participant.

Now, what I am wondering is: WHY?

I recall threads where there was general agreement that ANY of our candidates were (are) more qualified that ANY of those 'other' candidates.

What happened?

One of our candidates, the youngest but an incredibly intelligent and worldly and inspiring individual, won the Iowa caucus. He is the first non-white person to win in Iowa and to present the possibility of a leader differing from all those before him.

What's the matter with that?

How does recklessly slinging attacks against Obama HELP us, HELP the American people and remove those IN POWER whose policies have/are/will continue to dismantle democracy in this nation?

Not DUers by any means, just the jokers starting the lame attack threads.

2. Wonder where all of the Kucinich supporters went?
Wow, looks like to Obama. It was the same crap from his supporters, now we get to deal with this from the real Obama supporters.

3. Its what we *do* at DU
it would have happened regardless of who won Iowa - that winner would get the onslaught of attacks.

The odd thing is that I think some of the attacks are no longer actually about the candidates but swipes at other groups of supporters who posters think have taken swipes at their candidate. I call those "supporter wars" - they were wild and wooly in 2004 and the dynamic is even fiercer this time around.

11. Why? The Democratic nominees are ALL of quality fabric in spite of,...
,...the differences each of us may have because each of us have our own peculiar position(s) of concern. Every single one of those nominees would certainly better serve interests common to ALL of us than ANY of the Republicans, not one of whom gives an inkling of authenticity or genuine concern for someone like me or you.

I do not mind, one bit, that 'supporters' assert their candidates strengths. I expect that,...hell, DEMAND it.

However, the assaults akin to RW bullshit character assassinations are disgusting.

I will still be voting for Edwards because his background and platform and personality are most convincing, to me. Nevertheless, I feel nothing short of joy that Obama won the Iowa caucus because that represents something I really needed to see for myself: a progressive-leaning America rejecting the likes of the right-wing theocratic and corporate regime.

I knew in my heart the America I love still exists notwithstanding the deceptive newscorp. But, I feel so much better, now.

4. Because the primary is not OVER. Obama has opposition and some are opposing him
You surely don't expect his opposition to be praising him with only 5 days till NH? What do you expect? Seriously , the observation is inane. This is an election, after all.

7. Nonsense. He's inevitable. Give up now.
Meanwhile I'm thinking truly ugly thoughts like "we've never nuked Iowa."

6. DU is insane during primaries. And these have gone on forever.
Obama is the frontrunner. Should he be immune from attack? Hillary wasn't.

8. Oh come on. It wouldn't matter WHO won. The partisans always come out.
If Clinton or Edwards won, it would be the same shit. Maybe even worse if it were Clinton. Naaah--CERTAINLY worse.

The answer to your WHY is because people aren't ready to give up on their candidates based on a lousy caucus in a single, small state. They do not believe this one event constitutes a coronation.

They're trying to get their licks in to depress support for the IA winner and boost up their own choices ahead of NH and Super Tuesday. Like that's gonna make a difference in the big picture...!

Don't try to stifle this crap, it never works. Just use that IGNORE THREAD feature if it gets too annoying.

9. I read just as many negative Obama threads every day for the past three months...
Maybe you are just noticing them? Have you noticed the anti-Hillary and anti-Edwards threads too? It's ok thought. For every positive or negative thread started, there will be equal numbers of positive and negative posters in each. Nature seeks to keep a balance!

10. genuine criticism is not an attack......
is it an attack to point out his lack of spine on the war and his general level of inexperience?

what about the complete lack of substance in his message?

the man is all talk and fluff.

he would lose against almost any republican in a general election and he knows it but his ego keeps him going.

13. Define "genuine criticism".
Yours?

Pssst! The only way any of the republican wackos will win the election is by stealing it, again. The whole lot of them are crooks and liars, mass murderers and thieves!!! THE WHOLE LOT.
