Kucinich Sues Dems to Get on TX Ballot
* Dennis, I love you. You are my hero. You have inspired me. I got involved in politics because of you. I've donated to you and was a volunteer for your 2004 campaign, however, I believe you jumped the shark. Damn. I love Willie Nelson too... and I get where you're coming from but... DAMN.

By Kevin Tillman, AlterNet. Posted January 4, 2008.
This is madness.

Judging by what I'm reading today, the primaries are all wrapped up. Apparently, 300,000 mostly white, largely rural Iowans will decide our choices for president.

And Ron Paul, with $20 million bucks raised in a quarter, 10 percent of the Iowa vote and a legion of loyal fans, isn't being allowed to debate on Fox News in New Hampshire. ABC is cutting Kucinich, Gravel and Repub Duncan Hunter from it's debate.

But this might be the most annoying bit of BS out of all of it. AP:

Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, along with supporter Willie Nelson, have filed a lawsuit to get Kucinich on the ballot in Texas after they say the Texas Democratic Party rejected his application.

The civil lawsuit was delivered late Wednesday afternoon to U.S. District Court for the Western District of the United States, Kucinich spokesman Andy Juniewicz said late Wednesday evening.

The lawsuit says that Kucinich was informed by the Texas Democratic Party on Wednesday that his application was "defective" because he crossed out a loyalty oath in the application that said he would swear to support whoever the Democratic nominee for president might be.

Is he spending his wife's money on this shit, or the campaign's?

6. One of his opponents is a politically active gold star mother who used to
be one of his staunchest supporters. She's pissed as hell because he's not 'taking care of business' in his district, which I guess has more than a few challenges.

She has some of his qualities, only she's PRACTICAL. I haven't seen her in action, but on paper, she looks pretty impressive.

4. Its just as bad on the other side, maybe worse
While I agree that keeping Dennis Kucinich out is not the right way to go, think about what FOX is doing at their debate.

Ron Paul just destroyed Rudy 9/11 Guiliani in Iowa with a 13% to 4% plurality.

nd yet, Guiliani will be on the stage for the FOX Republiklan debate and Paul will not be allowed.

Not that I like Ron Paul, I believe he is a phony, but that is totally ludicrous of FOX.

5. I just CANNOT understand why he had ZERO presence here in Iowa!
He made one appearance in my area (which happens to be ground zero for liberals/progressives in Iowa) back in September as part of a multi-candidate event, and did not return once over the course of the entire campaign season.

He had to know that in today's instant media culture that Iowa is truly a make-or-break state these days! Why did Chris Dodd move his family here for the entire year?? And look where he ended up in the end... :(

What a sad end to the campaign - he didn't even make the effort to have campaign signs made. At last night's caucus, the organizers had to take some blank pieces of paper and write "Kucinich" on them with a Sharpie just to designate the gathering area for his supporters.

His message clearly resonated with the 1500-2000 person crowd at the September event! The organization simply wasn't in place to take advantage of that enthusiasm...

12. Are you calling Kucinich a liar?
He claimed that he had an active campaign organization in the Hawkeye State.

15. I can only tell you what I saw with my own eyes -
there was nothing in place compared to, well, every other candidate in both the Democratic and Republican races!

7. Why bother Dennis? We all know you have no chance at winning the
Dem nomination in TX, and I doubt ANY Dem has a chance of winning the State! Like another poster said, get back to Ohio and tend to your re-election!

14. Sounds like 90% of the people responding, feel Dennis and Gravel should be excluded
Not just from the debates (that is common Democratic opinion, even on DU)

but you guys feel he should be excluded from the Primaries themselves.

Sounds like Nader was right?

"Just give up, Kucinich and Gravel.

You're not "mainstream" like Dodd and Biden and Richardson
who got similarly tiny portions of the vote. If we didn't
exclude you we'd be a laughingstock. Loyalty oaths? No prob."
