I hope this Edwards "coverage" isn't a prelude of things to come |
|
This morning on Russert after ignoring Edwards COMPLETELY for the first thirty minutes, they deigned to bash him for a couple of minutes before turning to the repugs. David Gregory said that Elizabeth is overshadowing her husband, and saying things that he has decided himself not to say. That's a rough quote, and not his exact words. He was basically saying that she is not echoing his message but is delivering her own message that is not in line with her husband's. No one else on the panel picked up on it.
So is that going to be some kind of meme? Elizabeth is too strong, too liberal, too independent? I suppose we should be glad that they even mentioned Edwards in any context.

Wait until the gop gets a crack at the Dem candidate. You'll wish that they kept it to stuff like this.

2. Elizabeth has been OVER THE TOP |
|
Acting like Granny Kettle saying she was disappointed in Michelle O. etc. She comes out and is attacking, If Edwards is such a fighter, why doesn't he do himself or STFU already!

You Edwards supporters are using Clinton tactics which is what your candidate is doing and it is the reason he is SINKING like a rock in the polls. No mysoganist here, but believe what you want.

Or maybe all the spouses should put tape over the their respective mouths, or just sit and be a Stepford Spouse?

21. How odd of you to say that. |
|
Yesterday, here in Nashua, we heard both Elizabeth and John Edwards. Basically, she introduced him and then left the rest of the stump speech to him.

4. Edwards?? Is there someone named Edwards running??? |
|
:eyes:
Makes me want to vomit. Mika B. should be fired for over the top behavior re: Obama, she sure is taking her notes from her father literally. What a stooge.
I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore.
Please donate to John Edwards.

6. Combo class bias and scared shitless. |
|
No one wants the middle, working and poor classes riled up enough to really run the government for their benefit, not for the upper-middle and upper classes. That Russert acted this way is not surprising, but I thought more of Gregory. Tools, both of them.
Then there's GE. I wonder what skeletons exist in that corporate closet that the plaintiff's attorney Edwards might try to pull out?
This is totally self-serving media bias of the worst kind.

7. Fear not, Edwards people... |
|
When the pre-caucus stuff was going on in Iowa, the Iowa press paid attention to all of the candidates. The local broadcast and print media gave time to ALL candidates, including Edwards.
The national stuff---we didn't pay attention to so much. We were very immersed in what was happening locally. We were also very busy researching the candidates, going to events, talking to neighbors and friends.
When the candidates come to town, and your election is days' away--you are not paying attention to the gobbledygook from the MSM. If anything, we would sit and laugh at the MSM and the talking heads--because many of them were not "on the ground" and experiencing what we were.
The people of New Hampshire are extremely independent, as you know. They don't like ANYONE telling them who to vote for. They don't like Iowans telling them who to vote for either! They want to make up their own minds.
Like Iowans, they take this process very, very seriously.
I was extremely humbled by the whole Iowa process. I felt that I needed to clear my head, examine the candidates and really research them---and get in their faces and ask questions, too--because I felt a sense of responsibility.
Have you been reading the New Hampshire daily newspapers or going to some of the news Websites from the New Hampshire cities? That will make you feel better. All candidates are getting round-the-clock coverage. The MSM sorta fades into the background, during this process.
I am an Obama supporter, but I love John Edwards--and I do understand your frustration.
The MSM is not fair and they never will be. However, they don't have as much power as they would like with voters--during these state election-events.

I think most Dems understand that the MSM is full of malarkey.
They know when someone is being ignored, and it doesn't take a Rhodes Scholar to figure out that John's populist, anti-corporate message isn't exactly loved by the media.
The people of New Hampshire, especially the Dems and the Independents get it.
They know what the media did to Kerry and other Dems, and they've watched the MSM leverage war and this sick, neocon agenda.
The people of NH are fully immersed in their own information gathering and what's happening at the local level.
Just one more thing about this... I noticed in Iowa that Hillary's events were pretty much staged, media events--designed specifically to get media attention. Edwards and Obama were meeting with smaller groups and they were doing Q & As in communities. Many of their stops in small towns were never covered. However, Hillary's big speeches at colleges and in larger cities were covered.
I knew that the lopsided media attention gave the appearance that Hillary was doing better than she was. I would get on Edwards' web site and see him furiously criss-crossing the state and talking with small groups, meeting with nurses, etc. That's why he did well in Iowa--and Obama as well.
You don't snag voters or inspire them by standing on a big stage and not allowing open dialog between the voters and the candidate.
Both Obama and Edwards understand how important this micro-pitching is and it wins votes.
Iowa and NH are different. There isn't as much time in HN now. Plus, most events in NH seem to grow to these huge events--because everyone is flowing in to see the candidates before the election in four days. However, a lack of media attention doesn't always mean that the candidate isn't connecting with voters. Sometimes it can mean the opposite!

they are PRAYING we democrats are dumb enough to nominate Clinton or Obama as the democratic nominee because either one of them will be the best case scenario for the GOP to retain the White House-Edwards can actually win it for us and they know it and they are MOST afraid of him
