McCain reaches out to conservative Christians, "is breaking down walls"

"Weathervane McCain" and Jerry Falwell.

VERO BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain is defending his outreach to conservative Christians, arguing that his effort is not political pandering to win the GOP nomination.

McCain met privately Monday with religious broadcasters in Orlando, Fla., then answered questions about his appeal to conservatives in Vero Beach.

In the 2000 campaign, McCain angered the party's right by calling evangelist leaders Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell "agents of intolerance." Last spring, he spoke at Falwell's Liberty University although hard feelings still linger among some conservatives. Focus on the Family founder James Dobson has said he won't support McCain...

The Rev. Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition said after McCain's private meeting in Orlando that he helped repair damage with Christian conservatives. "He recognized he cannot be president of the United States without reaching out to the evangelicals," Mahoney said. "There definitely is an uneasy relationship between McCain and people of faith, but he is reaching out and he is breaking down those walls. He helped himself in that room tremendously today."

1. McCain wants us in Iraq PERMANENTLY
""When asked this week on CNN how long the U.S. military is likely to remain in Iraq, Senator John McCain replied "probably" 10 or 20 years. "That's not so bad," he said, adding...""

Now read 'analysis and polls' at
Iraqi Insurgency

Those 'permanent bases' are what is fuelling the insurgency. McCain takes his orders from the chimp.

4. Boy, those are 2 VERY unhealthy looking men.
Falwell looks horrible. Wasn't he hospitalized with pneumonia a while back? He has either gained an enormous amount of weight or is seriously retaining fluids.

5. Falwell? Pride, gluttony, sloth, avarice, anger
Can the discovery of secret lust be far behind?

When that one's found, he can branch out into despair, at least feign it.

They don't call them deadly sins for nothing.

8. Falwell looks fat because he's full of shit.
I once had the unfortunate experience of being very close to Falwell when he was appearing on Bill Maher's old Politically Incorrect show. That fat fuck is the pastiest white man I ever saw...I swear if the sun ever hit his face he would dissolve.

And is it just me or is that robe look a little too satanic for a Christian?

6. I read somewhere that >55% of 'murcans believe that the earth is 6,000

years old and that Noah's ark actually handled the millions and millions of animals (including the penquins and polar bears and rhinos and hippos and elephants and all those breeds of horses). So McCain is going for the creationist vote. He might win 'murcans over on that one issue. (edited for percentage)

9. One look at Falwell and you understand the necessity of a wall
separating church and state.
