Daschle Endorses Obama
I'm not sure how important this is- or what it says, but it's interesting.

WASHINGTON - Sen. Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record) won the endorsement Wednesday of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, who said the White House hopeful "personifies the future of Democratic leadership in our country."

Daschle said Obama has a "great capacity to unify our country and inspire a new generation of young Americans, just as I was inspired by the Kennedys and Martin Luther King when I was young."

Obama began his term in the Senate after Daschle lost his seat in 2004. But the South Dakotan served in the Senate with several of the other Democratic presidential hopefuls, including Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Joe Biden of Delaware, Chris Dodd of Connecticut and John Edwards, a former lawmaker.

Daschle said the party was "very fortunate to have an extraordinary field of candidates."

1. It seems a bit early for people to start endorsing
Not that I really care one way or another who Daschle endorses, but more Democrats will probably throw their hat in the ring at some point so endorsing now seems premature.

3. This AP Article sounds like Spin...Here's what Daschle is quoted as saying at end...
"Daschle said the party was "very fortunate to have an extraordinary field of candidates."

Reading the article it says Daschle says nice things about Obama Candidacy but the AP writer couches in to make it "sound" like an "endorsement" by bringing in that Daschle says he can inspire new voters like Kennedy did. The AP writer then ads the sentence above at the end.

I see nothing that says Daschle suggested that Obama was his "personal chosen candidate." I think it's spin to get Daschle to have to clarify his comment. RW Rovian Dirty tricks.

But...HEY! If Obama is Daschle's Candidate then it's okay by me....

4. If true, it's over then. The rest of the candidates might as well pack their bags
and go home.
