Another US Copter shot down today...
no casualities, according to US military...They initially called it a "hard landing"

http://bob.wjla.com/headlines/0207/399393.html

A U.S. helicopter that crashed Wednesday north of Baghdad was shot down, the military said after initially stating that the chopper made a "hard landing." All aboard were safely evacuated by a second helicopter, said military spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Garver. "I can confirm that initial reports indicate that it was brought down by small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades," Garver said, adding that the site had been secured.

The statement from Garver came hours after chief military spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell told reporters that the Black Hawk had made a "hard landing."

1. is that eight?
This is the first i heard of it, I have checked the MSM's web pages and their main story, isnt this, or Iran refusal to stop their nuclear programme, or Blair pulling troops out, all i saw was Britney smoking after Rehab, and Anna's mom in court.

2. Unless the chopper fell...
...on the steps in front of that courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, it may not get much coverage today. Yeah, I think it's eight, plus the one that went down recently in Afghanistan.

3. Technically right; by being shot down, you would make a hard landing.

5. How many people you think walk away from a crash?

A hard landing is plenty uncomfortable and quite scary all on it's own. I would imagine something like a hydrolic line was pierced and those things just don't fly well without hydrolics. Just because they were not shot out of the sky in a ball of fire doesn't mean they weren't shot down. They are nine very lucky people IMO probably with stained shorts....

4. Won't be long now before it will only be news if a helicopter isn't shot down on a given day.

6. A "Hard Landing"?
reminds me of George Carlin commenting on airplane procedure: Flight attendant: "In the event of a water landing..." Carlin: "A water landing? That sounds suspiciously like CRASHING INTO THE OCEAN"
