So what can we do to help Edwards? |
|
What can we do besides give money? Is there anything else to help him in the primaries?

1. You could always try kidnapping Clinton and Obama... |
|
...but I don't think it would have the desired effect...

5. send letters to the lamestream media about their lack of coverage: |
|
Mine (sent to MSNBC, and CBS thus far):
I and many of my friends feel that you are deliberately excluding mention of the strength and worth of John Edwards as a Presidential candidate - in order to assure continued corporate control of the White House and over control over the national conversation before the 2008 elections.
Mr. Edwards represents the hopes and feelings of more people than you choose to acknowledge, and we would very much appreciate it if you would cover his message and successes with at least the same zeal as you display toward Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama.
In case you were not aware, it was John Edwards, not Hillary Clinton, who came in second in the first Presidential Primary/Caucus in Iowa. Yet, the mainstream media consistently only spoke of Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama as if Mr. Edwards was never even present at those caususes. This is MOST troubling and puzzling. And when you do give Mr. Edwards any coverage, it seems consistently negative.
We are not convinced by your refusal to accord him fair exposure that his chances of becoming the nominee are less than those of the other candidates. In fact your deliberate ignorance of him tells us the opposite - that you fear the support Mr. Edwards might get if he had wider positive exposure and you are endeavoring to avoid that - lest he become the nominee. In fact, we feel that if you and the other major networks simply provide him the same coverage you've lavished on his rivals, Americans would rush to support him.
Mr. Obama's vacuous (though dreamy) platitudes and Mrs. Clinton's car sales routine are nothing if not familiar. They serve only to alienate and mislead citizens whose real lives, issues, and purchasing power - and in fact whose entire nation - depends upon honest, compassionate leadership that is not beholden to corporate influence.
Please do not abandon this country and do a disservice to its voters and your viewers for the bland, disheartening, corporate-money-sponsored status-quo future promised by the most moneyed candidates, simply because the corporations who own your networks fear the change he may bring about.
We all know who owns the media. We all know whose influence John Edwards is vowing to fight should he become the nominee. We can do the math. Your deliberate avoidance of Mr. Edwards as a viable candidate tells us that he is right and righteous in his cause.
The American people deserve to know of and see him and to hear of him as much as the other candidates, so they can make an INFORMED rather than a misinformed decision about the best person to lead this country (no matter who is best to protect corporate bottom-lines - because those are likely two very different things).
Thank you.

7. Here you go...something else... |
|
... http://www.johnedwards.com/action/join/campaign-short/You can sign up to call people from your home in the upcoming primary states. (I have Vonage so LD doesn't cost me extra). Or, lots of other things...see the site. I'm also setting up (as soon as I get paid again) a monthly regular donation to his campaign. ANYONE can do this. Even if it's five bucks/month, or 10, or 20 or whatever.

Because unless he picks Gore it is the only choice (as Hillary would be suicide), and Edwards isn't going anywhere after NH, whether he stays in or not.
