How many hours a day do you spend listening to "conservative" shows? |
|
I am always curious about the myriad posts on what Imus or Limbaugh or Scarborough or Glenn Beck or Hannity or O'Reilly or Dr. Laura or whoever else said. From what I gather, a fair number of people here probably spend at least 2 hours a day listening to shows that are going to irritate them.
I find this to be fascinating behavior.
I am curious as to how many hours people hearing spend listening to Limbaugh or Imus or watching FoxNews.
I admit. I usually check Rush's website two or three times a week just to have a general idea of what the "other side's" marching orders are going to be. And I may listen to 10 minutes of his show if I am ever in my car at lunch. Though generally, I listen to Sirius 25. I don't think I've watched O'Reilly this year aside from the night Colbert was on (which was the least funny piece of television in the history of television I might add).
For my news, I read the Washington Post and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. And I subscribe to the Economist. And I guess Rolling Stone counts somehow. Once in a while I will watch something on CNN, though most of my tv time is sports, HBO, Law and Order re-runs, the History Channel or The Food Network at this point.
So...how many hours a day to you spend intentionally allowing yourself to be angered?

20. I would not have said that it was sane to refuse to listen to the |

arguments of the other side. In fact you have to understand their arguments in order to counter them. I don't think you have to spend hours there, just enough to throw up. Know thine enemy.

Pick the trash up occasionally in the truck if I'm running errands. Five minutes here, five minutes there is all it takes to know the cowardly chickenhawks are making a killing off the ignorant trash that still support bush. People who listen to hannity, limbaugh etc do not deserve their citizenship since they obviously are domestic enemies of the constitution and do not support our troops one iota.

I don't really know much about him but from what I've seen of his show when I'm up that early it really wasn't that bad. He seems to be against this administration and he expresses that very loudly.
I used to try and watch O'Reilly and other bs like that just to keep up with the lies, but you can only take so much of that before you start going insane.

More than anyone here would care to consider. More than *I* care to...
A friend of mine in Naval Intelligence (insert own jokes here) once told me that he would gladly pay any price to be able to have a conduit into what the Other Side was thinking and doing at any given moment. And since the Other Side, for me, is more than willing to provide, who am I to refuse?

I know I should, but just can't, though I've tried. I've even gone over to that other board the Free Republic, several times, just to read. But, I'm weak, can't do it.
Thank goodness for those folks who can!

but if I am feeling particularly bold I might stop for about 30 seconds on Fox while changing channels out of sheer curiosity. Then the nausea sets in...:)

that my local cable provider had the decency to NOT feature Fox News Channel . I have recently moved here to this small southern West Virginia town (very Dem in its makeup), and thought that this exemption was a great sign of , if not enlightenment, then at least not attempting to brainwash the populace. However..... Since the re-vamp of CNN Headline News, with Nancy Grace and that other blathering Rush wanna-be, I now have a channel to block here. I will NOT even give them a look when I pass by 31 right on to Channel 32.
Now, if I could have MSNBC (and my hero Keith), I would be quite happy.

during my afternoon commute home (about half an hour). It is usually O'Asshat that is on at that time. It is when I don't have my mp3 with me (which will be today, btw). I hate most of what is on music radio and there are no liberal talk radio shows in my area.
I figure you gotta know your enemy.

for a few seconds at a time during Olbermann's commercials, just to compare what he has deemed an important story. Lately, it's about all the Communists at NBC. In contrast to the dire stories at the top of Olbermann's hour regarding death and destruction in the Middle East, lying and corruption at the top levels of government and/or torture and abuse conducted with the administration's imprimatur, Faux just seems even sillier.

Don't listen to talk radio. So that isn't a problem. And after channel surfing across the Fox News Channel a few times I used the cable option to block it. I figure the cable company must provide blocking info for market research. If everyone with a brain would block the propaganda I expect their revenue would dry up.

But only if they're talking about something polarizing politically. Gotta keep up with what's rubbin the other side the wrong way. It's quite entertaining. But if it's just some benign political conversation or other stupid crap, I switch it off.
Other than that, I don't listen to anyone else like that except for a once and a blue moon catching of Scarborough.
