The latest scam perpetrated on gullible Christians..
"The Hallelujah Diet" which appears to be based on eating raw fruits and vegetables and purchasing books and some mystery substance called "Barleymax" from the Rev. George Malkmus, who claims to have cured his own colon cancer from following his faith and this diet.

Sorry Rev., but:

A) I don't seem to recall very many vegetarians in the Bible
B) I bet even a secular humanist like me could lose weight by eating mostly raw fruits and vegetables and cutting out all saturated fats, sugars and processed foods

5. Jesus was not on the South Beach diet..
I'm pretty sure he ate bread quite often, I seem to recall something about loaves and fishes, and the Rev. says you can't drink alcohol on the H.D., and we know that Jesus turned water into wine...

2. There is an Ezekiel cereal - based on grains and fibers mentioned in the Bible
I ate it and felt wonderful the whole time.
Some of these things are not bad.
And none of the biblical grains caused me to become a RW christian.

6. If the guy needs to have his colon cleaned
I would suggest eating nothing but GrapeNuts for a day. I did that this last Saturday because I was too lazy to cook... Let's just say I had some religious movements.

13. I don't know Malkmus, but I know people who do.
I'm skeptical, but people I respect think well of him.

As to vegetarianism and Christianity, I invite you to the website of the Christian Vegetarian Association, of which I am a member...

14. I can't respect anybody who would "sell" people a diet..
I'm sure there are lots of Christian vegetarians out there, I just don't think it's particularly promoted in the Bible. I was reading yesterday that there is a local minister who has started a "Bod4God" movement. If people can get motivational assistance from the Bible to lose weight and become healthier, more power to them. But for a minister to claim they have a some sort of divine authority to help people lose weight is disingenuous at best.

15. No kidding
My doctor (if you can believe it) tried to charge me for an office visit after doing all these measurements and running all these tests and then . . . brace yourself . . . tried to tell me what to eat and charged me for it. Well, let me tell you, I would have kicked him out then and there, but it was his clinic. So I settled for calling him a quack and stormed out.

just telling you what to eat though, wasn't he? I'd take the advice of a physician or a dietician over a minister any day, but I guess that's just me.

So you would respect some people who would try to sell a diet. Okay. I just misunderstood the subject line of your other post.

21. Actually, there is a "WWJE" movement that asks whether Jesus
would support factory farms and corporate agriculture over locally grown veg*n foods.
