envision a mccain/huckabee ticket.....
...not an ounce of charisma between the two of them. their speeches will lull their supporters to sleep. the only person that can stay awake through huckabee's snoozefest is chuck norris. mccain even puts himself to sleep.

11. Evolution is not a matter of belief ... it's a matter of understanding a fact
There is no need to believe a fact. Biological evolution is a fact. There are theories that explain this fact. All of these are variations of descent with modification. Why does the word 'belief' keep appearing with regard to biological evolution?

Gravity is a fact. There are theories that explain gravity. Nobody talks about believing gravity.

those ordinary Americans, who didn't show up for no MeetUps, much less for an Obama rally, they're worried and afraid, and they're looking at McCain standing next to Obama and Obama is saying all of this hopeful stuff and McCain, older, "wiser" from his POW experience, "Moderate" as Republicans go, stolid, experienced in the ways of the world and politics. Just from a knee-jerk perspective, I'd bet it will go to McCain by a landslide. I'd also bet that there's a bunch of folks in the Obama camp, hardcore activist types, who wouldn't mind that a bit. In short, I think Obama-bots are being used.

10. i dunno
mccain is a shitty campaigner. he's a crabby crochety old man. he'd win the red states and obama would win the blue states. it would come down to ohio and florida. in fact, no matter who the candidates end up being, it's gonna come down to ohio and florida. we need one of those states to win, the repukes need them both.

Obama and McCain. You don't know anything about either one. Which would you trust more?

....over the crusty old douchebag any day of the week.

but, what's your point? how many voters meet the criteria you suggested? the last election, democratic voter registration was up and it will probably go up again this year. people are sick of republican criminals in control of the government and they're getting active. whether its hillary, obama or edwards, young people are getting charged up. the red states are probably going to remain stuck in the stone ages but the blue states will come alive this year. it's gonna come down to ohio and florida. it always does.

17. If So, Remind Rethugly Economic Conservatives That...
If there is a McCain--Huckabee presidential ticket, Democrats and Progressives would do well to remind Republican economic conservatives who don't share the Christian Right's desire for Dominionism and also right wing-minded independents that there would be only one heartbeat separating Mike Huckabee from the Oval Office, and if McCain flat-lines, Huckabee becomes President.

19. I see your profile says Costa Rica
Are you originally from the US? Do you not understand the supreme idiocy that is the US voter? McCain/Huckabee is the right wing dream team- McCain calms the fears of the defense/Wall Street types, Huckabee keeps the fundies in line. I can't believe anyone on our side would actually want to face them- it would be an incredibly tough battle.

And as to the US electorate:

During his 1956 presidential campaign, a woman called out to Mr. (Adlai) Stevenson "Senator, you have the vote of every thinking person!" Stevenson called back "That's not enough, madam, we need a majority!"

i lived in texas for 11 years though, so i'm totally familiar with a braindead voting base.

25. I just can't manage to think much of the American voter
I think the Repubs would repackage McCain as the tough-guy maverick and he'd pull independents over to their ticket. Huckabee would continue his whole "aw shucks" nice guy routine. The media would fall in love with them.

it's gonna come down to FL and OH no matter what the tickets are. the country is polarized. the red(neck) states vote repuke. the blue states vote dem. we need OH or FL....if the dem candidates can charge up democratic voters in those states we'll win. all we need is one of them.

29. This is a team that could beat the Dems.
McCain is known, by people outside the know, as a pragmatic straight shooter, a maverick, someone tough on defense and in strong support of the military. From George Washington to Teddy Roosevelt, Americans lurves their war heroes. Now picture your average, ill-informed frightened American-McCain is someone they can feel secure in. Policies? Independents don't vote on policies. As long as he doesn't go too far off the reservation, they'll go with their feelings.

Huckabuck will keep the home schooling, rapture waiting, culture warrior crowd showing up.

This is not a line up to look forward to.
