Who Else Feels Broken And Desperate Like We Can't Fight It
The IT is just so big. These fuckers are every where. Greedy bastards fucking up every fucking thing. At every turn. I am beginning to despair. How can we prevail? As a single mother I can barely catch my breath.

18. Don't despair...
Your candidate is virtually certain to (at least) hold a very high position in the new Democratic cabinet that will take over in January 2009. Hang in there....it's going to get better soon.

so long as we draw breath all is not lost

only when you give up
can you lose

and even then

you can always change your mind

this race will go on

the struggle for freedom is 1000's of years old

we will do our part

so will you

and so you should rest easy

20. ok, no bullshit...
keep your perspective. keep yourself and your family strong. this goes for everybody. win or lose
we each must stay in the game as individuals.

not to reveal to much but i have been there.

not just once.

swim a little, take a break.

swim some more

take a break

just keep swimming

i am finishing my third year of law school

i am 36

i was crushed in 2000 and overwhelmed in 2004

i tell you what i told myself

this is not over win or lose
today
tomorrow

this year or next
so remember to take a break now and again

i lost some elections so i decided to become a lawyer
it was not easy and i am not there yet
but
i will always find a way to resist tyranny no matter its form
believe in yourself and you will too

It is always good to hear from a person who has experienced an ass kicking. It hurts. Really bad. But we do get up right? I am just crying a bit tonight. My fight has been quite brutal. But tomorrow I will be kicking ass, it is just my nature!

25. Welcome to DU Fuzzy Otter Pop- and thanks for reminding us.
You must forgive our despair,
some of us have been in the trenches for a
very long time.
Thanks for reminding us of the mission.
We are just exhausted at the moment,
so glad to know you are fighting the good fight
with your youth and determination-
We really need some fresh troops
in this battle...

so vent it out
let it bleed so it can heal

22. Yeah, I've felt like that for years.
You put it very well.

It's the way of the world. Always has been, and always will be, at least for the foreseeable future. There's no beating them, but that isn't all that matters. What really matters (to me) is trying to reach those who can be reached. That is the work at hand. Nothing can be done about the rest of it, because the world evolves at its own pace regardless of our wishes.

I share your feelings, and have for quite some time.

The light at the end of the tunnel is a freight train, and all Sens. Clinton and Obama have to offer is a brief respite (which will still be welcome, if ultimately meaningless) between Bushie vampire bites.

I try to remember a despondent George Washington in 1780, when all seemed bleakest, but that was the height of the Age of Enlightenment, when all things were possible. With a year and a half, the British Bushies were defeated at Yorktown.

Now it feels more like the dawn of the Age of Totalitarianism. Bill Kristol with his failing upward. Today I made the mistake of reading the USA Today, where anything goes apparently, and fact-checking must be a thing of the past, or only something to be applied to Liberals. Crazy Jonah Goldberg, another upward-failer whose choppy out-of-context lunacy stating that Hitler and FDR were similar characters, completely belying the ironclad historic FACT that Hitler loathed and DESPISED Liberals, that we were among the first to die in his brutal Bushie regime, even before he started killing Jews en masse.

And yet, this monstrous betrayer of his own people's memory, the Jews, who he betrays by twisting history (to the Nazis, as to many Bushies today, Jew = Liberal = Communist), just keeps getting pulpits from which to spew his lies unopposed, as if serial lying carries no consequences (which it doesn't, as long as you a member of the Bushie Lie Machine, but let a Lefty get ONE fact slightly incorrect and POW! no published article for YOU).

On the same "opinion" page, serial vote blocking Bushie Thor Hearne gets a panel to spew his bullshit about Voter Fraud unopposed, even though Congress' study revealed it is not even a real problem...while the Election Fraud and Bushification/Nazification of the Executive Branch, turning the DOJ - Civil Rights Division into the Department of Minority Vote Blocking and Minority Registration Intimidation isn't even worth a mention, just down the Memory Hole.

But we must never give up, must rise to fight another day. Remember the Jews in 1943 in the Warsaw Ghetto. Their doom makes our relative doom look slow as molasses and pleasant as a Sunday drive in the country. They never gave up.

It still may turn out all right, though it seems as distant and impossible as it did to Washington camped out in New Jersey in 1780, railing against the inactivity of the French, out of money, his own morale sinking fast.

I share and I think I understand at least a part of your pain, for it is my own. I don't know what else to say, except don't give into it.

Even if it is all true, do not give into it. You are not alone.

31. The fact that THE top two presidential hopefuls are a woman and a black man makes me damn happy.
(And it's NOT Condi Rice)

They might not be *the* progressive dream candidates, but still, pretty fucking wonderful if you ask me. And more progressive than most are giving them credit for around here, btw.

33. Little face, big face.
I have been told that there is some tradition out there that describes the little/big face. Looking upon the endless, needless suffering of the world the little face weeps and the big face laughs (I forget why, exactly). So my annoyed little face waits for the clouds to pass (as Duke put it) and I try to laugh as often as possible.

Who knows, maybe tomorrow someone will discover the thing that hasn't been tried yet, or tried enough, by enough people. Maybe we will be the ones lucky enough to say we were there when IT was stopped, slowed, or subdued.

I may be a pessimist but I refuse to stop breathing.
