Does Anyone Know If We can Donate To Walter Reed?
I have no words to express what I feel after reading about Building 18 at Walter Reed and the way our troops are being treated upon their return home. I wanted to know if anyone knows of a way that a collection could be taken that would actually go to helping the condiitions there and to also help their families. I simply can't sit and read something like this and let it go. So if anyone knows if there is a way for us to donate something no matter how small to a place that is credible and would make sure it was used to actually help these troops and their families, please respond here.

Thank you.

2. I wouldn't. Try donating to a private Veterans organization instead
I wouldn't trust the government to use the money to benefit anyone but themselves.

7. Private vet organizations? Started by Bushies? No Thanks.
Like the one in Dallas in which Michael J. Wagner, diverted funds to when people wanted to contribute to Walter Reed? You know, the one he started while working for the feds? The one in which his federal employees stated he spent his time on the government dole by building his own organization?

9. Well gee, I assumed that by saying not to give the government
the money that any organization started by the government would fall into that category. There are plenty of Vet organizations that aren't involved directly with the current administration. http://www.veteransforpeace.org/ is the first one that comes to mind. But don't let that stop you from shitting on my solution.

3. Well, try the Marine Corps Liason Office at Bethesda Naval, for starters.
They take care of logistical problems.

I'm sure there is something similar at Walter Reed, I'm just not sure of its name.

Having some say in the responsible use of our "donations" is another matter.

10. So you know: Walter Reed, and the VA are not the same... WR IS DOD
Edited on Wed Feb-21-07 11:06 PM by Ioo
Walter Reed is part of the DOD, the Army Medical Centers... the VA is a not the same.

Also know that the DOD budget is greater than all nations budgets combined.

YOU HAVE DONATED, YOU PAID TAXES...

You can donate to http://www.fisherhouse.org a great org that is like the Ronald McDonald House for the military families.
