If it's okay to trash that OTHER party's candidates here, can we begin with my loathsome
senior Senator?

A man so hungry for the WH he wouldn't dispute a scurrilous Karl Rove campaign to defeat him in 2000 that involved trashing his very own family?

A man who thinks that my heartfelt plea that he support stem cell research (which he didn't, naturally) directly to his office can be healed with a letter that expresses "empathy" with my situation--but outright support for GWB (I wish I still had this wretched form letter to show you, but it hurt so much I ripped it to shreds in tears)?

A man so vile that after courageously surviving the horror of the Hanoi Hilton he voted to allow the nation he represents to TORTURE others?

He won NH and the RRR party machine likes him since he can easily be manipulated--all he wants is to be president and he'll do damn near anything to get there--even sell out his own family's soul. He's a threat and I cannot stand him anymore--but he'll do worse for the nation in the WH as he's gone neocon and will do as he's told.

Can we spare some time from hating our own and concentrate some bile where it can actually unite us?

Can we stop this wretched excuse for a "hero," PLEASE?

2. K & R! I've got such disdain for this man, it's hard to express. He had the chance to
call out the drunken frat boy, and yet he rolled over and asked to have his tummy tickled.

He's a sham, a charlatan and decrepit in body and soul.

How's that?

3. well
He did join up with Kennedy and Feingold on some issues. So some Dems seem to like him.

I just wish he'd swallow whatever lump of food that is he keeps stashed in his cheek! Damn squirrel hoarding nuts.

5. His work with Dems has been sporadic, however, his adoration of the man who character assasinated
him is steadfast.

16. It's likely a tumor or calcification. I don't like the guy, but my dad had
them all over too.

That's a pathetic reason to choose when there's so much evil he's done.

20. Lighten up!
Sorry for your dad, but I was just being facetious. Obviously I don't fault the guy for real because of that.

I would also point out he voted against the Bush tax cuts.

11. Let me add something you'd never hear in the media...
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 10:17 AM by Jeff In Milwaukee
John McCain is a fuck-up whose father (the Rear Admiral) covered for his incompetence. Before being shot down by an enemy using cast off, second generation military equipment -- that's a fuck up right there, as the expectation is that you're supposed to complete your mission without being shot down -- McCain had been involved in three other non-combat crashes. All told, McCain lost five aircraft during his military career, making him perhaps the singularly most incompetent pilot in the history of naval aviation.

And as for his heroic stint in the Hanoi Hilton, McCain HIMSELF, in a 1973 "U.S. News" interview, confessed that after a couple days in captivity he agreed to give up military information (like the location of his intended target) in return for medical attention. He also admits in his book that as soon as his captors realized that he was the son of the of the Commander of Pacific Operations, McCain was taken to a Vietnamese military hospital and given treatment unimaginable for any other POW.

And for a grand total of 20 hours in actual combat, McCain was awarded 28 medals.

12. Actually, the latter Hanoi Hilton part is pretty well-known in AZ--but kind of taboo.
It was a big issue when he first ran for senator, but now the press won't touch it--even the alternative press doesn't bring it up much but I have the feeling that as SS McCain gains ground it would be worth bringing it up again.

13. The Keating Five, too--how did I forget this? In bed with Charles Keating
radical religious Republican and notorious AZ influence-peddler.

From the NYT, 1989:
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=950DE6DF1031F931A15751C1A96F948260

It pays to remember--AZers were always more concerned with his intimacy with Keating than the actual corruption, really--and oh, how he did Chuck's bidding indeed:

Back home, the meetings are less an issue than the Senator's personal friendship with the land developer and the Senator's friends and supporters now say they are worried that he is loosing the advantage he gained by being humble in continuing to harp on his involvement in the matter.

And here he goes again, playing the "humble" card. Take it from one who remembers all too well and spread it like this month's cold--it's an act.

19. McCain: Walking proof that one can be a hero and an asshole at the same time
Yes, he's a hero. What he did in Vietnam allows him to rightfully be called a hero. How he could get that so right and everything else so wrong is beyond me.
