The USA's Treasonous M$M
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 12:11 PM by ShortnFiery
Intro FYI: I decided to post this as a thread TOPIC for input because, IMO, there is one grand deception going on.

----------------------

Our, IMO, treasonous M$M, especially on the Idiot Box (TV) is hyper-obsessing about where in the world Anna Nicole is going to be buried.

Is it only me who is thoroughly disgusted with the "Bread and Circuses" that passes for NEWS on our broadcast and cable media? :grr:

My Gawd! Who really gives a shit about this trash?

To add insult to injury, Our USA Corporate Media fluffs over our occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq to hyper-focus on the Democratic Candidates running for the 2008 Presidential Nomination.

Our media is AS TREASONOUS as the Neo-Cons of The Unitary Executive who are presently shredding our Constitution and stacking our courts with right wing wackos.

With a few very notable exceptions, I despise these horrible people parading on the TV screens as LEGITIMATE journalists almost as much as I despise the war profiteering executive CEOs who order them around.

No, we won't hear about the short changing of the troops as long as Lockheed Martin, Halliburton, etc. get THEIR BLOATED PAYCHECKS from our hard earned tax dollars.

That is, all but the Investor Classes are DAMNED to increased debt as long as The Master's of War continue to rake in their Godless Profits off of the blood, sweat and tears of our troops.

But no worries, us "little people" are satisfied to glean all the story lines and specifics behind both the Anna Nicole's and Britney Spear's stories. All is well for the political elite as long as they can keep us wage slave Americans asleep or distracted by bullshit. :(

This is NOT "The War on Terror" but the sheer and unabashed GREED of our Military Industrial Complex squandering our tax dollars to profit bank accounts via their KILLING MACHINES. :grr:  :grr:

The foregoing, my fellow DUers is the bottom line to all the whining that we are not FUNDING THE TROOPS. For as long as they can keep the war going, the MEGA-CORPORATIONS will rake in HUGE profits. All the while, the basic necessities of our troops goes underfunded. That's both the evil and beauty of their plan. Murtha isn't buying it and neither do I. STOP THE FUNDING NOW and BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!

WE, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ARE THE TERRORIST NATION THAT MOST EVERY NATION IN THE WORLD BOTH LOATHES AND FEARS.

How does it feel fellow citizen?

Personally, I'm heartsick. All I know for sure is that a recession (or maybe worse) is IMMINENT.

1. Although I agree with the premise of your argument
I wish people would stop tossing the word treasonous around.

5. Why, is it anything LESS?
It is treasonous to suspend the Constitution.

I was so proud of a former Army JAG Officer who, when asked by the moderator, "Why do you feel it's alright to be defending Kuwait's at GITMO after having served in the US Army." He immediately responded words to the effect, "I am honored and keeping with my oath before I became and Officer - To uphold and defend The Constitution of The United States."

I'm a former Military Intelligence Officer and I KNOW what the word "treasonous" means. Unfortunately, Dear Leader was given UNLIMITED authority after 9/11 that we need to all, every one of us, privately search our conscious, and GET REAL.

The suspending of habeas corpus is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Just because the Neo-Con rulers are now stacking our courts with right wing ideologues, does NOT change the facts.

I know it's a strong word, but it is and accurate description of what is going on in this country: Treason. Our media is soft pedaling and distracting us from the FACTS.

Not even Britain, who we had a war with FOR INDEPENDENCE (our freedoms), is supporting us now. Doesn't that ONE fact give you pause? The rest of the world watches our politicians both swagger and cower in complete horror. Why is that? Are we not the rogue nation?

7. When they roundly ignore key 9-11 facts, and protect WH that outed a CIA agent
then they ARE acting in ways that abets the ongoing treason of BushInc.

14. Not necessarily: They have what Psychology terms "Learned Helplessness"
Remember all the alerts after 9/11?

I'm a brash and sometimes too brusque broad who has lived in Panama, Singapore, Iran and Japan. I've seen poverty and been in areas where Americans can be killed on sight. Therefore, I'm NOT afraid - oftentimes I can come across as "a pain the the a**" to some here with my bluntness, but I'm honestly NOT afraid of dying in a terrorist attack.

HOWEVER, and this is very important, the American people have been scared repeatedly by our Unitary Executive after 9/11. I can empathize with how PARALYZING such fear can be to one's psyche. It shuts you down intellectually and all you wish for is to be safe.

Specifically, for right wing republicans, it's the warm fuzzy feeling of a Dear Leader. Why do you think they've sainted Ronald Reagan? A man of little substance, BUT he made them feel good. Like their Daddy was keeping them safe.

People who can not tolerate complexity, vote right wing republican because they WANT to depend on a Dictator to make all their decisions for them. He's their Hero.

In no small part to our MEDIA BLACKOUT of specifics surrounding 9/11, the Average American is busy working 8-12 hours a day. The vast majority are not blessed with the free time that many of us have. Therefore, all they wish for is to BE SAFE. IMO that's a survival technique from too much fear mongering by the Unitary Executive. The occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq only breeds more of the natives hatred and creates more terror. Next we will see a withdrawal of international troops out of Afghanistan. Sooner rather than later.

Truth is, the rest of the democratic world FIGHTS TERRORISM as a POLICE MATTER. That is the most effective and preferable way to deal with these matters.

Hyping a war on a TACTIC and telling everyone to "keep vigilant" by looking under their beds at night for an A-Rab only serves to keep the populace compliant. I submit, if we want back "The Land of the Free" and "The Home of the Brave" we will AGAIN allow the experts to take a lead on countering terrorism. And for Heaven's sake - if our leaders truly love America and all it stands for, they need to STOP THE FEAR MONGERING.

2. You're preaching to the citizens, but it's the CONSUMERS who
watch this stuff, and want more of it to keep them from thinking about important stuff.

We're all citizens AND consumers, of course, but it's the job of the Free Market to emphasize the fun side of us and suppress the boring side.

8. I believe "the press" is forcing the distractions on us.
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 12:57 PM by ShortnFiery
Not even my Mom, who loves soap opera dramas is watching all of these circuses.

The media is in the pocket of the War Profiteering Corporations.

War is good for business.

The best hope I can see in the future is to weed out the Corporate Democrats. This may take a couple of decades. But as our finances dwindle (everyone who doesn't have over 300,000 of chump change to invest), our RESOLVE will strengthen.

Once we can fill our Congress with Populist Democrats and TRUE Moderate Republicans (those really for SMALL Businesses), then we can REGULATE THE RUN AWAY CORPORATIONS. Competition can be introduced and as a consequence, we the people will be much better served. Perhaps we may someday have enough recovered to plan for "the common good." :-)

I know, my husband sometimes claims "The Consumers" demand this trash, but I don't think so. The BIG PROFITS for both Media and the Military Industrial Complex is through perpetual war making.

4. There is no "Free" press...
If "Freedom of the press" is viewed by the msm as freedom to omit what does not fit the agenda of it's owners and their overlords.

6. Your use of the word "treasonous" has merit in some cases.
I urge everyone to spend some time reviewing this archived thread about the MSM component of "strategic influence".

11. That doesn't help. We MUST keep appraised in order to educate those
who see their standard of living lowered but don't know why.

We must be able to intelligently argue HOW the M$M is distracting and distorting the news.

Yes, great responsibility has been given to us but THEIR jig is about up. Why? When people start seeing their standard of living take a dive, they will welcome alternate news sources. When they do (some are starting) begin to open up to us, we must give them factual information while being able to counter the distortions that the Pentagon driven media is feeding them.

:applause:

Let's all take a moment and thank Al Gore for inventing the Internet? <tongue-in-cheek>

Seriously, bless all that Al Gore has done since the Supreme Court cheated him out of the Presidency. He has emerged from this tragedy a wonderful man, beautiful soul and, IMO, a true American Patriot. :patriot:

16. why do you hate the capitalists for their freedoms?
If you don't like capitalism, move to a godless commie country like Denmark.

We need two things badly:

1. Campaign finance reform. Get ALL private money out of politics. Fund campaigns 100% from public money, with strict regulation of how that money can be spent. Treat any attempt to give money to a public official or a candidate for office as what it is--bribery.

2. Media reform. Restore the Fairness Doctrine. Define and strictly enforce the distinction between editorial opinion and journalistic reporting. Hold media accountable for damages caused by false reporting. Implement a licensing system for journalists. Stricly enforce separation of the media and the government. Currently, the "national security" agents of the military industrial complex infest our media. Bust media monopolies.

Of course, nationizing the weapons, energy and healthcare industries would help as well.

20. The focus is absurd and obsesses on the inane.
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 02:48 PM by ShortnFiery
They focus on irrelevant issues such as, "Is Obama Black enough?" Or is HRC "tough enough?"

The above tripe feeds into the circus atmosphere of the M$M's deception.

I will say that CNN does provide some in depth reporting on the chaos in Iraq. I pray for those honest Journalists' security because much of the reporting is unvarnished truth. However, they'll follow it up with some whore whose ASSIGNED to the Pentagon in order to permit making the facts irrelevant with their bloody spin. :grr:

No, the M$M's coverage of all the Presidential Candidates is far from academic, much less helpful to the voting public. :(
