Jennifer Brunner proposing to change the way Ohioans vote
Imagine voting at the shopping mall instead of a dark church basement. Or if Election Day were two weeks long. Or if everyone voted the same way they pay their water bills - through the mail.

Voters might one day see those changes. In Ohio, changes could come as soon as November.

Election Year 2008 promises more than answers to who becomes the nation's next president and who fills dozens of local jobs. This could be the year where the way we vote gets as much attention as whom we vote for.

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner already is proposing to fundamentally change the way Ohioans have voted for generations.

No longer would voters be required to vote only in the precinct where they live. Voting would begin 15 days before Nov. 4. And some elections would have no polling places at all.

1. Elections use to be held in the county seat.
And they called out the voter's name to announce their vote.
