"It is a ridiculous waste of time" John Kerry. Good for him.
George Stephanapolous wanted to get Kerry to throw mud on Edwards by asking him to talk about some gossip in Shrum's book. Kerry refused to even discuss it saying it was gossip, irrelevant and a waste of time to talk about how he felt about Edwards 4 years ago.

The quote painted Edwards in a bad light but its hard to fault Kerry for telling someone who he thought was his friend, Shrum. It really was a minor deal. I can see me saying what Edwards said and I can see Kerry being unhappy about it. Life.

Kerry was my last choice last time but I came to like him during the election and today he showed us all how to do it.

Don't give the pundits any more fuel. Refuse to talk about the horse race, the squabbles between candidates. Insist we talk policy.

1. Thanks for this post - he was gracious to Clinton, too, I thought
And he said emphatically that he will fight for the nominee, whoever that is.

3. John Kerry is not petty
I never thought the endorsement was about any petty stuff from 2004. I believe it's exactly what he said today, he sees Obama as turning the page on all the garbage of the 90's and bringing together the ability to move people with the ability to move policy and get things done.

6. I don't know about all that. But John Kerry is a good enough politician
not to hand any political clubs over so easily. No matter who he is asked about.

He's not in the business of enabling Republican talking points.

4. Senator Kerry was excellent this morning...
...on This Week. I liked how he INSISTED (politely, of course) that the discussion about his Obama endorsement be toward the positive, as opposed to the MSM 'spin' of how it disrespected Edwards and/or Clinton. The Shrum question WAS a ridiculous waste of time, not only because it is divisive and moves us backward, but because it plays into the 'spin' that his endorsment was disrespectful to Edwards.

I also like that he seemed to 'give notice' that he would not tolerate 'Swiftboating' in any form, toward any Democrat.

Good job, Senator Kerry!

8. Thank you for posting that.
I felt bad that I missed seeing Kerry today.
He was great. I felt very proud of how he represented the party, his refusal to deal with the Edwards quote or to bash Hillary.
His firmness that there would be no swift-boarding whoever the candidate was.

His support of Obama was beautifully done to and it was good that he brought up his experience.

Whoever we support Kerry was great.

9. Steph's insistence
about this bordered on the impertinent. I really liked how Kerry cut him off and did not even allow him to read the ridiculous quote. Was the text displayed? I do not remember.

11. I don't think Stephanopoulos got to say the quote
He sure did try.

Save the "gotcha" questions for the important things, George. When you act petty, it only makes you look shorter.

(My apologies to short people)

(I am short)

15. Kerry did his best to stop him from saying it, but they did flash it up on the screen in print
I noticed it on replay. It was Kerry saying Edwards told him at the time he was being picked as VP that he had taken an oath to his deceased son and he had never shared the memory with anyone else. Kerry says what bugged him is that Edwards had told him the exact same story a year or two before, including the part about never having shared the memory with anyone before. Kerry thought it was "chilling".

It really doesn't impact my opinion of Edwards or Kerry. Maybe Edwards remembered telling Kerry 1-2 years earlier. Maybe he was refreshing Kerry's memory thinking Kerry forgot. Maybe Kerry was the only person he shared it with. NOT a big deal. Not worthy of prime time.

10. kerry always walked the higher, and so many not able to appreciate what we had in kerry
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 05:09 PM by seabeyond
kerry far from being perfect, a pretty damn good opportunity for us as a nation. we allowed the lies to taint kerry, allowing us to trash him for the stupidest of non truths and a media that fed and pumped the lies, denying us the chance of a president that might have been very very good. somethinng this nation needed

i know after 911 and the pain and the sorrow i also saw the hope, the chance, the opportunity in what happened to this nation and the world and per bush and the republicans we turned away and walked it in lower vibration, ... feeling the repercussions today

i felt kerry was another opportunity, yet again we turned away, allowing the pettily to deny the chance

what keeps me optimistic is i know universe will continue to give us a chance, and at some point we will wisen up

I think too many progressives don't know what we had have in Kerry. He's not perfect by any means but he is damn good and his heart is in the right place.

12. I think George Stephanapolous was one of the first Clinton
insiders to write a tell all book and I thought back then that he was a low life urchin and he's done nothing since to diavow me of this sentiment. Kudos to Kerry for handling the situation the way he did!

17. Good for Kerry...
I still think he's a good man who by all rights should have been president. He would have made a good one. Glad to see he's taking the high road and not dealing with that kind of garbage.

This kind of crap is disgusting and should treated as such.
