We went to visit our Congressmans office today.

Part of a nationwide effort by MoveOn to try to block the escalation of the war. About 20 of us showed up at Rep. Gus Bilirakis' office in Palm Harbor, Florida. The Congressman wasn't there, but his staff let us in and heard us out. Gave everyone who wanted to speak a chance to.

Though it was supposed to be anti-escalation, the whole crowd was in a more anti-war mood, and we all expressed our opinions to the Congressmans aides.

Probably the best speech came from a burly, Viet-nam vet, who spoke of all our dead troops, and THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dead Iraqi's. His voice was cracking, and tears were welling up in his eyes as he talked about all the dead and dismembered children. I even thought I saw the glimmer of a tear in the staffers eye.

After our meeting, we went outside to busy U.S. 19 and waved bring the troops home signs. There was a lot of enthsiastic, supportive horn blowing.

Now on to the next step. The only way this thing can be ended quickly, is a grassroots demand for impeachment. It's the only way Bush will listen.

Kick him out! NOW!

Am so glad to hear your Congressman was responsive and that you were able to share your feelings and experiences with his office. Seems to me that is what their job is supposed to be.
