Poll question: Sen. Clinton Candidacy Enthusiasm Poll |
|
This is not asking about whether you'd vote for her if she was the nominee, but rather simply assessing how many people are excited about her running. Enthusiasm or antipathy can be due to anything from strategic considerations (whether she can win) or her actual merits as a candidate, assuming that these can be separated as issues.

1. She's a woman, so she can't win... |
|
Just like Obama can't win because he's black, right? :)

3. There's no value judgement inherent in the question. Just trying to assess |
|
people's mood. Their enthusiasm or lack thereof may be related to the fact she's a woman or entirely different reasons.

I'm a democrat. If she or Obama or whomever get the dem nomination I will be wildly enthusiastic about their candidacy and support it with my paltry contributions and rabid campaigning and most importantly my vote.
Hillary is a woman. So is Mean Jean Schmidt of Ohio (I think.) Would I have any problem with sex if those two ran against each other?

truthfully answer that none of your poll answers applies to me relative to any dem candidate 11 months before the first primary.
I will support and vote for, enthusiastically and with gusto whomever the dems nominate.
I have to chuckle at all of these threads relative to depth of support.

Mark Twain I think. I'm not a member of an organized political party, I'm a democrat.

11. No, she's HRC so she can't win. |
|
She's well known to the country and as popular as she ever will be. Right now, Quinnipac has Guliani beating her.

7. I really like Hillary. |
|
And I really don't understand the huge uproar of Dems hating her. She's a bit too conservative for my taste -- but then so was Kerry. I'm far left, no candidate will ever be perfect. And I see what she's doing with not apologizing for her vote -- she's putting the blame squarely where it belongs, on Chimpy McCokespoon.
I just don't get the venom. She's one of us. Imperfect but one of us. At least she's no Lieberman turn-coat,
To my point though...If Kansas had a primary that is worth a crap, however, I would probably not vote for her at this time. I do not like the oligarchy system we are currently in and I think it needs to stop with Chimpy. And even though I like Hillary, in a primary I would vote to end the oligarchy system I see developing in the U.S.
Now if she's our candidate in November? I'll vote for her no matter what.

10. Not sure if she can win |
|
Firstly, I have some problems with her stated positions. Secondly, I doubt if she can win for several reasons: She's female, she's Bill's wife (let's not lie, those two WILL matter to a lot of people) and she has been so demonised for so long that I doubt her ability to get out from under the smears. Plus, she arouses such merderous hatred among RWers that I'd worry about her wellbeing if she were elected.

12. this is gonna sound weird but... |
|
I'm not likely to vote for her in the primary because I'll vote for the candidate that is farthest to the left (which won't be her) but I'm wildly enthusiastic that she's running. I love seeing a woman run. I love seeing how the right-wing mouth-breathers go so nuts about Hillary.

20. No, that's fair. I'd rather have a true liberal, too. But I have a sneaking feeling she's a lot |
|
more liberal than she wants to appear right now. She is a strong, strong advocate for children, and we really need that so badly.

16. She gets my vote if she's nominated, but |
|
I hope she doesn't get that far. Her refusal to admit a mistake on the Iraq vote irks the fucking shit out of me.
Plus - and something I hate to admit I agree with the Repugs on - she's not likable. At the very least, I don't like her. More importantly than that, though, I want a candidate who makes me confident in victory, not another Kerry. Regardless of anyone's opinion here on Hillary, she turns off a LOT of people (including me). She'd be cannon fodder for the media and she'd inspire Repub turnout that I don't think we could match.
Gore could win if he ran. Obama can win if he survives the party infighting. Clark could win. Edwards could win. I don't think Hillary can, and I don't fucking like her.

21. I hold her war vote against her |
|
I did then and I do now. Especially, since she has not fully recanted it. I did vote for her twice, but I don't know what I will do in the Primary.
I will look at all the candidates and then make up my mind.

23. for once, I agree with clinton supporters here that DU is not a representative |

sample of the population. We're much better informed politically. Our lack of enthusiasm about her candidacy is based on reasonable political assessment by a well-educated and enlightened group.
the general population isn't as savvy as a whole as we are.

25. The problem is, I don't know anyone in real life who is enthusiastic about her candidacy. |
|
The only people I "know" who feel this way are DUers who are anonymous to me.
Of course, I live in shrub country also, but my liberal friends in other cities don't know a lot of people who are fired up about HC either.

She needs to concentrate on figuring out her next line of spin about her war vote, and wrapping up and sending back all the lovely gifts sent to her by David Geffen over the years....
