Every time this asshole opens his mouth, it makes me wonder more and more just WHY he was on the 2000 ticket. Anybody have an article on this that can make some sense on this?

1. Gore
wanted to separate himself from Clinton's perceived moral failings, and Lieberman was one of the few prominent dems who had publicly criticized Clinton regarding his morality.

Gore also thought Lieberman would help him win Florida.

3. One reason: Monica
One of Gore's problem (more so, manufactured by the MSM, but there was some truth to it) was that voters were voting against him as a way of rejecting the whole Monica controversy. There was a sense of "Clinton fatigue" in 2000 that was present because voters in general had it pretty good (ie. pre-Bush and pre-9/11.) Gore's problem that summer was distancing himself from Clinton, in terms of Monica. Because Lieberman made several comments denouncing Clinton for getting that blow job, and because of his video game-busting, nice old Jewish gentleman persona (which, IMHO, is a facade) made him an appealing candidate to balance out Gore's flaws (real or perceived.) The result that was Gore managed to go from double digit deficits, to tying with Bush or taking small leads. Lieberman helped reduce Gore's liability, but other than that, he was not a good choice for Veep. He rolled over to Cheney in the Vice Presidential debate, and undermined us during the recount on the issue of counting military ballots (which was a manufactured "scandal" from the Republicans during the recount.)

6. I still believe the reason Nader go so many votes
Is because Lieberman was on the Dem ticket. And I almost pulled the trigger on that one myself.

8. Lieberman condemned Clinton with a firey (for him) speech fromthe senate floor
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 05:13 PM by SoCalDem
and Gore was afraid that Clinton would be a "problem" for him, so he chose Lieberman..It was a briar patch choice though, because what Gore did NOT factor in was that there is still anti-semitism in many parts of the US, and Holy Joe's wearing of his "faith" so blatantly probably cost him more votes than he gained.

and of course when he sided with Bush during the recount period, that didn't help either..

He's a TOAD!!
