"Slow bleed." "Drown it in a bathtub." What's the difference? |
I'm struck by the republics jumping on the bogus "slow bleed" reference they're trying to pin on the Democrats. It was, of course, a republic who came up with the "slow bleed" scam they're trying to peg on us. But it raises this question...strategically, how is a "slow bleed" policy, regardless of its genesis, different than Grover Norquist's infamous "Drown the government in a bathtub" meme? Why is it okay to "slow bleed" the very fabric of American government, but somehow tragic to "slow bleed" the president into actually listening to the people?

1. Very few know of "drown in the tub" - but their memes are plastered everywhere |
They have the media - you don't.

2. Technically Norquist never said he intended to drown it |
only to get it so small that such a thing was possible. After all, a drowned government can't fight wars.
