If a candidate would do ANYTHING to get elected, they would do ANYTHING |
|
after they're elected.
If a candidate's ambition is so all-consuming, they ought not to be president because that is not leadership.

when I meet someone new I listen to see how they talk, do they talk in facts, half truths or outright lies, are they respectful of their families and friends etc. Most times after coming away from a person I just met if I was asked what specifically they said I prolly couldn't remember because at first I want to see what kind of a person this is before I even listen to them, if that makes any sense. Its not a conscience effort on my part either its something I've learned in all my years and it never lets me down, I never have friends who rip me off and I have and have had many many friends

I posted the following in GD/P:
"Nothing more completely baffles one who is full of tricks and duplicity than straightforward and simple integrity in another."
Charles Caleb Colton (1780-1832) British clergyman, sportsman and author.
This says a lot, if you think about it. I wouldn't expect neocons and their followers to consider integrity, but I do expect it of us and our candidates.
When engaged in a contest, it's human nature to, at some point, want to win at all costs. We lose sight of our original intent and the ultimate goal.
Let's be careful not to want other Democrats and their followers to screw up just so our preferred candidate can win. I'd prefer a candidate maintain integrity - regardless of whether it's embodied in a pacifist or fighting approach - than eat off the corpse of others in order to achieve victory.
It's cliche, but I wholeheartedly believe it's how you play the game. You can fight and defend yourself and others and still maintain integrity.
IMHO, of course.

6. There was a great line that I read here years ago... |
|
"you don't steal elections to do good things in office."
Same principle applies.
