Did Obama throw out some debate bait today? I bet so. |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 07:12 PM by TwoSparkles
Since we're in Nevada--casino country, I'm betting that Barack Obama threw out a bit of debate bait today to his rivals.
When Obama said this today...
"But I'm not an operating officer. Some in this debate around experience seem to think the job of the president is to go in and run some bureaucracy. Well, that's not my job. My job is to set a vision of 'here's where the bureaucracy needs to go.'"
...I think he is setting the stage.
That line is just too easy to attack. And it was spoken several hours before a big debate. It's almost certain that Hillary will respond to this comment. How could she not? I bet she'll serve up a short speech, in response to Obama's line--thinking that she'll score some easy points on her "he lacks experience" theme.
I'm betting that Obama has prepared some "gotcha" one liners that will stun all of us.
I can't wait to see what happens.

That is gonna come back and bite him on the ass.

I am an Obama supporter.
I am suggesting that he threw out that line, and is waiting for someone to "take the bait" and try to hit him on his lack of experience.
I am suggesting that Obama put these words out there, so someone would bring up his "lack of experience", so he can retort with a brilliant response that lays to rest this misnomer, for all of eternity!

On political campaigns its a given that sometimes you say stuff you'd rather shove back in. They all do it and will keep on doing it.

13. Obama knows he has a debate tonight... |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 07:45 PM by TwoSparkles
He also knows that Hillary's lie-based "he has no experience" meme is possibly a weakness for him.
I just can't imagine that he would say something like that, to a room full of reporters---on the night of a debate---without there being a back story.
I guess we'll see.
Maybe I'm just smoking my socks.

Plus, it's very exciting before the debate.
I think nerves are frayed. I know mine are.
I'm so excited for this debate, I just don't know if I can watch it.
I'm really nervous.

3. Hillary has been around Washington a long time, but except for a few additional years |
|
as a Senator, she doesn't have a lot more experience that Obama. I wish people would remember that Bill has the resume - not HC. I mean, should we vote for Laura or Babs because they had Presidents for husbands? Yes, I'm sure that their husbands consulted them too - but that doesn't give them EXPERIENCE. I wouldn't dream of using my husband's resume as my own.

24. Yep. She was a Goldwater girl early on, did some community work in Arkansas and advocated on behalf |
|
of children, she was in the Rose Law firm where she was an advocate for several large businesses, she did well in the futures market on tips from a friend, she led an education reform effort in Arkansas that pissed the teachers off big time and the results were not impressive, as first lady she totally blew the best effort we had to get real health care reform, she wrote a couple of books, and became a US Senator. Obama has been a community organizer, state senator, US senator and has also written a couple of books. I don't think her resume is any stronger than Obama's. Personally I think the strongest resume belongs to Kucinich.

4. No his job as president is to have some vision |
|
and make sure that the bureaucracy knows what the hell you mean. Sounds like what bush did. He had a vision an then went back to playing game boy. If this is going to be a gotcha bull shit game I want out. I have some respect for Obama but I will not put up with that kind fking smart ass bull shit. This is not a game this is serious. We have people out there trying to kill everyone and that is just the repuks.

12. Actually, being the "visionary" is exactly... |
|
...the Eisenhower or Reagan model of governing. They delegate and entrust that the really smart people with whom they surround themselves--will make their vision a reality.
Nixon and Clinton were "hub and spoke"--where every detail had to go through them.
It's two different ways of Presidential management.
Like I said...I just sense that Obama made those comments to incite someone to make the "Oh yeah...we'll you're not experienced enough!" lie. And I do believe it is a lie.
I'm hoping that my intuition is correct, and that Obama just set Hillary up and his comeback will be an absolute home run.

I wouldn't say that she's dumb, but I would comfortably assert that she's got a few splinters in the windmill of her mind.
Maybe it's campaign fatigue.

22. Obama has the right to defend... |
|
...himself against all of these "I have experience and you don't" bullshit accusations.
It's strategic to make Hillary say it, and then for Obama to state exactly what he wants to say.
This is a debate. Like it or not, debates are a game of skill. That doesn't mean the candidates don't take all of this seriously, or that the topics aren't serious. They are.
You really need me to make you some warm chocolate chip cookies. You sound very stressed.

16. I've been saying this, |
|
Obama is holding back alot, his mission is to stop himself from fighting another Dem candidate, he wants one of those repugs over there, but that does not mean he won't show a little bit to those doubting Thomas.
This guy has skills, he is not only a speaker but a very canny debater, he is sooo holding back, makes me wonder, but I do understand where he is coming from.
Whats the point in making another Dem look stupid?
What?
