It seems like Richardson is trying to be Hillary's ally in the game of Survivor

Richardson was the only one who took Hillary's side in suggesting Obama should apologize. I don't believe Richardson really believes Obama should apologize for something he had no control over. So, what is Richardson up to? Is he banking on being Hillary's VP choice? Does he see Obama as his biggest threat?

5. It's just my gut feeling. I could be wrong

It's not necessarily a bad thing but for the life of me I can't understand why he would think Obama should apologize. I could understand her asking Obama to distance himself from what was said but demanding an apology makes no sense. It's a Karl Rove tactic.

2. It's just DLC kissing ass with DLC.
Those repuglites have to stick together.

Remember, he served as Energy Secretary under Clinton's husband, he owes them loyalty. They helped him get those lucrative board appointments once Clinton's term had eneded. ;)

3. He wants to stay on Hillary's shortlist - so does Vilsack, so does Warner.
No surprise to me that Warner's boy Jerome Armstrong came out defending poor Hillary camp from the comments from Obama's camp, and he did so in a way meant to manipulate Dean's 2004 supporters while completely ignoring the fact that Hillary's comments against Dems was EXACTLY like the anti-Dean constructs in 2003.

4. It's sad to see his answer cast as an attack strategy
especially when he cast it as an attempt to rise above criticizing other candidates.

"Richardson said he did not see everything that Geffen said, but Obama should denounce his comments. ``We Democrats should all sign a pledge that we all be positive,'' Richardson said."

7. I think Hillary should apologize to Obama for attacking him
and it's just suspect that Richardson would back up Hillary when she was the one out of line. Hillary should have left Obama out of this and so should Richardson. If anything Richardson should have suggested that Hillary apologize to Obama for attacking him for something he had nothing to do with.

Obama was more than gracious to Hillary and told her he had nothing but respect for her. Why isn't that enough? Why would Richardson suggest Obama need to do any more?

Also, why should Geffen apologize to Hillary? He is allowed freedom of speech and he has donated millions to the Clinton's in the past. If anything Hillary should thank Geffen for the millions. It sounds like Bill and Hillary let down Geffen. Maybe Geffen has good reason for saying the things he said about Hillary. Then for Hillary turn around and attack Obama is just irritating.

Here is what Richardson said:

The New Mexico governor then added that, "I do believe Mr. Geffen should apologize, and I think Sen. Obama, who was involved, should also say something. We shouldn't be afraid of apologizing if something goes wrong.''

How was Obama involved??? He was an innocent by-standard who was attacked.

10. I saw it. He was prodded into it,
and seemed to respond only to highlight statements he made earlier in the month about candidates avoiding attacking each other. It's strange to me that what I saw as an appeal for comity would be turned into some kind of attack on Obama, or a self-serving defense of Hillary.

I'm more inclined to believe what I saw, and to leave all of the Machiavellian analysis to the bump readers and the folks with the crystal balls.

6. Richardson isn't taking anyone's side IMO...

At yesterday's forum, Governor Richardson had just asked that all Democratic candidates to not slam one another during this political primary.

Then a serious of question and answers took place which went something like this--

--------------------------------

Stephanopoulos: "So ah- should Obama's campaign denounce what was said to Clinton's campaign?"

Richardson: "uh..

Stephanopoulos: "Should they apologize?"

Richardson: "Well - sure, why not." ..."But I gotta tell you George, I've been preparing for this forum and I'm not up on the news"

Audience:

Richardson:

Stephanopoulos:

--------------------------------

It was pretty evident that Governor Richardson had no clue what had taken place between the Obama and Clinton campaigns.. but since he had JUST denounced candidates or their campaigns dissing one another, his response was honest and HUMOROUS.

8. Richardson knows he won't win the primaries
He thinks Hillary will, and wants to be her running mate.

9. You must have missed this

How was Obama involved??? He was an innocent by-standard who was attacked by Hillary. Obama went on to say he had nothing but respect for Hillary and was very gracious.

On Edit: Richardson should have suggested that Hillary NOT attack Obama for something he had nothing to do with, rather than Obama apologize for being attacked by Hillary.

I like Richardson but this was nothing but pure politics and kissing Hillary's ass.
