1. It's sad if "kook" is the best someone has. |
|
He's obviously NOT a fake, so that's easily dismissed.
Of course, when "liar" and "corporatist" and "warmonger" can be used to describe one's candidate, you have to find something to throw at the other guy.
Kook, indeed. I'll take kook over bought 'n paid for anyday.

3. I don't think Dennis is either a kook or a fake, but I do think he's |
|
a dreamer with little grasp of what really can happen in the world. It's wonderful to be for peace, but if you study history, you will see that there's always some group, country, State or someone who will NOT let that happen. His idea of medicare for everyone sounds good at first, but when you really look into how medicare is really working, you find that there are constantly Dr's refusing to participate in the medicare program and hospitals that are having to charge each one of us more, and both problems are because of the very low reimbursements of medicare.
I like Dennis, but he doesn't live in the real world.

5. People say I'm a dreamer....but I'm not the only one.... |
|
To start a change in the way people view the world, one person needs to take action. What if, say, Rosa Parks had your attitude? Back in the '50s, there was little evidence that Jim Crow was going to die. TPTB and pundits back then called people like her "dreamers".
As for looking at history, you have a valid point--but this is in the past. The difference now, and I think it is a big one, is that more and more people and countries have the capability to destroy the planet, or at least make large swaths of it uninhabitable. Frankly, we're at the point where, if we don't change our attitudes about war and violence, we are going to destroy Earth.
As for Medicare--yes, there are problems. But Dennis's program is more complex than just signing everyone up for Medicare.

11. I do not support the war...never have! However, I consider myself a realist. |
|
It would be wonderful if "we could all jsut get along", but IMO that's just not going to happen! There have always been people who have strong beliefs in something. Strong enough to fight and die for. There is nothing you, I, or Dennis can do to change that. We as a country should always aim for peace in the world, and always try fot the peaceful or at least non viloent solution to problems, but I think Dennis isn't recognizing the people of the world as being agressive to accomplish their own goals.

15. Yes, I believe any of the 3 top candidates would do all of that. |
|
Improve the country? My DOG could be Pez and improve the country!
All three candidates have committed to pulling out all combat troops from Iraq, and I don't believe any of them would do a premtive attack on any country.
As to facism, I guess you are referring to corpratism. I think all would fight against it, but Edwards would fight the hardest.
I believe the most important to fighting facism is electing a lot more Dems to the hosue and senate. No Dem Prez is going to fight against a bill to break up the media monolopy, or enforce our anti trust laws. A Prez can propose these things or course, but I believe to do it during the campaign would simply get them the "ignore" treatment like they did with Kucinich, Biden, Dodd, and are still doing to Edwards.

4. Kucinich doesn't just talk about what he's going to do |
|
He starts doing it here and now--examples: HR 333, HR 676.

6. no one cares about what our candidates "do" |
|
you've seen it in evidance. The leading candidate voted for the IWR and has still not admited that it was a mistake. They don't care about how they actually affect politics. They care about what words come out of their mouth. Just trying to work with the medium.

8. Obama speaking before the war. |
|
" What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other arm-chair, weekend warriors in this Administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.....What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income – to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression.
That’s what I’m opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Barack_Obama's_Iraq_Speech

Like Afghanistan, it was reasonable to go to war in Afghanistan after the 9-11 attacks.
