Ray gun was the worst President in my life time |
|
But he was also the best mentally ill president that we have ever had, with the possible exception of (bipolar / manic depression  ) Abraham Lincoln.

he gave all the Nixon criminals a job, and then they all crawled out of their holes again in 2000 to commit more crimes. I'm just hoping this is the end of the line for all of them.

All that born-again fanatic-trash that is coming out of the bible-colleges that they've installed in high civil service positions throughout the Agencies are going to come out like locusts a generation from now to royally fuck up everything they touch. The cycle never ends.

|
Sure, he invaded Iraq on a lie, but that is what the sheeple desired.
Even now, only Kucinich and Paul think that we would be safer with Saddam alive and in power. If removing Saddam from power makes us safer (:eyes: ), then Bush did the right thing by invading Iraq.
W. is the result of Raygun. The neo-cons would have died off after Nixon if it was not for Raygun.

"only Kucinich and Paul think that we would be safer with Saddam alive and in power."
Really? So, even though he wasn't threatening the United States in any way, and given that it was our removal of him that set off the shitstorm we're presently seeing in the ME, you think only crazies like DK and Paul think we'd be "safer" if he had been left alone? Really?
Wow.

33. Don't ask me, ask all the 2008 presidential candidates, in both parties |
|
Everyone except Paul and Kucinich thinks that the world is a safer place without Saddam in power.
Only Kucinich and Paul think that we should have left Saddam in power. The rest of the presidential field disagrees.
For the record, I opposed the Iraq war because I thought that a stable, pro-west, unified, democratic Iraq would take over 50 years of American occupation to achieve. At 50 American loses per year (my initial estimate), I did not think it was worth it.
I often wonder how long HRC thought it would take to achieve victory. I always knew that this was a multiple decade effort.

27. It's hard to say what Reagan's legacy is |
|
A lot of Republicans quote being just like Reagan, but most of them aren't very much like Reagan. Reagan's era died not soon after Reagan left office. One might argue Reagan was fighting the fight of his generation; against the new deal and against communism. Bush's administration was fighting the fight of his generation; against the 60's cultural revolution and Vietnam era military. I think it's fair to say Gore being a baby boomer would have fought the same ideological battles as the Bush administration, but with very different conclusions.
One might add the Bush administration seemed interested in over turning all progressive gain in the last 250 some odd years of the US. Something neither Clinton, H. W. or Gore seem interested in doing. Bush administration seems to have become a warehouse of bad ideas revisted.

28. Reagan was the FDR of the truly wealthy. |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 04:00 PM by Marr
Everything he did was meant to weaken the middle class and empower the wealthy. That's what his policies were really about, and that's why he's been canonized in certain quarters.
We've got a relatively small group of plutocrats who agree with Reagan's position that we need a two-tiered society of wealth and abject poverty. These plutocrats also own most of the big media outlets in this country, and so naturally, there are a lot of dupes who now praise Reagan without really knowing why they're doing it.
Ask them why Reagan was so great, and they'll give you a few platitudes, and a couple of easily-debunked myths.
