Being that this is the Democratic Underground, and DU posters are expected to, if not support, then at least show a certain minimum level of respect for ALL the Democratic contenders ...

My question:

Is it acceptable for DU'ers to refer to HRC as 'Hitllary'? ... and if so, can the HRC supporters then refer to BHO as 'Saddam Hussein Obama'?

My personal feeling is that both should earn the poster and immediate tombstone ... no matter how long they've been members.

People talk about needing a shower after visiting Freepville ... well, I've had that same feeling here recently. I wish the Mods and Admin would insist on certain level common decency. It's an obnoxious minority that have been spewing non-stop, and it promises to only get worse.

2. Fuck no it isn't acceptable.
DU has a subset of un-Democratic individuals and I tire of them.

4. No, it is not acceptable for anyone on DU to parrot the Freepers
Disagreeing with a candidate during primary season is expected, and if honestly done, can lead to some good discussions. Unfortunately the noisemakers are the ones starting the most threads, and some people feed on that without thinking.

"Hitlary" and "Saddam Hussein Obama" are definitely over the line, and anyone who posts those should be tombstoned immediately.

6. Seconded
When you see that trash hit the "Alert" link on the post and it will go to the mods so they can deal with it.

9. Yes, and I've used it before ... but nothing changes.
I think the Admins need to 'slap down' a few of most partisan, most toxic, most prolific posters here that are making it unbearable for so many of us.

7. No... ALERT on them!
I pity the moderators. They are working as hard as they can. I believe Skinner needs to impose some temporary bans on abusive posters to tamp some of this down...The level of incivility is as high as I can ever recall, and I joined just after the inauguration in 2001.

8. I agree that use of those words should result in post deletion and probably a warning
I think that immediate tombstoning would be too harsh though.

11. It's pretty bad around here lately
I found DU just before the 2006 election and was so excited to find like minded people. I found myself leaving DU for good several times a week...but hey, I am addicted

12. Absolutely not acceptable
One might wonder what the corporate backers of both are expecting to get for their money, however.

13. I don't think it's ok at all,
but whether it would earn tombstoning, I'd want to look at the poster's overall contributions and evaluate them.

If they just got here to throw cheap shots and stir shit up, that's one thing.

Have you seen that here?
