"Rudy" thought he was running for Mayor of a Really Big City:
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 08:12 AM by PCIntern
He thought that this was some kind of popularity contest in the Five Boroughs: that one day the media would hail the arriving 9/11 Chief as the Savior. That he would be carried in on a throne of gushing Headlines a la The Post or Daily News, that his glowing personality and popularity as the man who was steady-as-a-rock-under-the-worst-possible-circumstances would propel him past these also-rans.

Well, Rudy's realized now, likely way too late, that the Rethugs are not interested in pseudo-hero crap...their establishment wants the real thing: they want zealotry of the religious nature, they want cold war iciness of persona - no quarter given to the 'weak', they want money funneling their way wholesale. He just ain't it and whereas all the other candidates show inadequacies in certain of these traits, Rudy's just too flawed and out of his element. He's a New York 'Liberal', lisping, thrice-married, lived-with-gay-guys, cross-dressing, pro-abortion, anti-gun, funny-looking candidate and that, my friends( as McCain would say), is just too many hyphenations for them.

1. I'm so glad Rudy is apparently tanking.
He was the only candidate on either side that I felt would definitely be even worse than bush, if such a thing is imaginable. The other R's are bad, but not that bad.

2. OK, the Huckster is pretty bad too, come to think of it.
But he'll never get the nod, will he? Will he?

3. He might...
I recall having this conversation about Junior.

It was impossible...he was a Dem's dream, right? We'd win 45 states, right?

Shit, we couldn't even...well, don't get me started...

6. I was the same way. I guess I misunderestimated bush.
I was so completely disgusted by bush the very first time I saw him that I just assumed he'd never be nominated, much less elected (or re-elected). Fool me twice....won't get fooled again!

You're right about Huck. Assume nothing.

7. Amercia CAN get fooled again...
Charles Schulz's Lucy with the football trick came from life's experiences.
I never ever thought that in my lifetime I'd see the US again stuck in a war without a mission which drags on for years and years. WTF did I know?

Unbelievable...

5. The only bright spot in this whole campaign season is the disaster
that is Ghouliani. Old Man Thompson is going down, too. It's a shame the Ghoul will profit off his campaign with more $100,000-a-pop-rubber-chicken-dinner speeches.
