Dept of Homeland Security "Loyal Bushies" to be made PERMANENT? |
|
I heard this on Air America last night. Think it was Lee Rayburn, a Wisconsin radio show host. I'm going nuts trying to find this anywhere on the internet.. maybe someone can help me with it.
His main point was that they are working feverishly to try to permanently ensconce their political appointees in their nice cushy jobs at DHS, which has like 183,000 employees or so, to prevent a new administration from getting rid of them and putting their own appointees in.
This would effectively hamstring a new Democratic Administration. It would allow the Repugs to continue the kinds of things which we know are occurring in the name of "Homeland Security", BEYOND THE TERM of George W. Bush.
If anyone can find a link or something, please post it here.

Now we will have the security industrial complex to join the military industrial complex. More greed, graft, and less rights for long in the foreseeable future.

They try to "leave a marker" in the next administration by keeping their trusted friends in permanent government jobs, but NOTHING is ever really permanent..If someone wants you "gone", you're as good as gone.
Usually when a new administration comes along, most of the previous administration's "people" are asked to tender their resignations..most do..and move on to lobbying jobs or jobs they already have lined up.
The ones who stay , hunkered down in their "permanent" jobs, are removed through attrition , as they are given new tasks to do, and come up lacking..
Homeland Security is a bloated, unnecessary beast, and should be eliminated.. Their "job" should already be being done by the DEFENSE DEPARTMENT..
This was just a convenient boondoggle, created as a "lovely parting gift" for Tom Ridge, who gave up being Governor in anticipation of being vice-president..(Cheney shot him out of the saddle)

4. Nothing is permanent in the federal government |
|
If we have a Democratic president and Congress, they can be fired anyway, and there won't be anything they can do about it.
