Overheard on a train: Santorum Works Against McCain

So I went up to NYC a couple of days ago for some meetings, and I was coming back yesterday on Amtrak. Sitting behind me I hear some guy coming up and greeting another guy, sitting behind me. I don't know who it is because they were sitting behind me, but I can hear the conversation. The one guy is being kind of a suck-up, and they start talking about being in conservative politics and that they need to deal with McCain. Then the other guy says great to see ya and walks away. So then the guy sitting behind me starts making phone calls on his cell. He's got a fairly loud and authoritative voice, so I can't help but overhear, and he's making call after call after call to tell various people that we've gotta find a way to beat McCain, just would be just awful, and going on and on about how much McCain sucks and that even having Hillary or Obama would be better than having McCain because he would just be horrible for the conservative movement because he just doesn't get the movement and he's always using liberal language to talk about things and how that's a terrible thing. And in one conversation with one person he was talking to, he was trying to talk him into coming out with a terrible story about McCain from five or six years ago, and he's like yeah, what he did to you was just incredible, and you should go public with that story, etc.

After a while I got up to go get something from the café cart, and it turns out the guy sitting behind me was Rick Santorum, which makes it all the more fun and all the more interesting. So pretty much the whole trip this guy is working his cell phone, talking to people about how anyone is better than McCain and Giuliani would be better than McCain because then at least he wouldn't betray

1. I'd bet a sack of doughnuts that this big-mouth republicon is a chickenhawk
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 10:26 AM by SpiralHawk
The reublicon homelanders who hate McCain are invariably chickenhawks, like Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh.

The presence of an honorable veteran just shines too intense a light on the failings and hypocricy of the Vast Horde of Republicon Homelander Chickenhawks. Consequently, they try to pull down honorable vets, and elevate deserters like Commander AWOL Bush, and draft-dodging war profiteers like Dickie 'Five Military Deferments' Cheney.

4. Not only the big-mouth train stooge, but Santorum himself is (surpise) a chickenhawk
Fits perfectly. Santorum is yet another in the long, long, long line of republicon homelander chickenhawks.

He is more than happy to send our sons and daughters in uniform off to fight an Oil Profits Crusade based on 930 documented republicon lies. But Santorum himself is a freaking Drafter Dodger who never served the US for even a minute.

Republicons - a curse upon America's honor.

2. Relatedly: Michelle Malkin Channels Santorum
http://whiskeyfire.typepad.com/whiskey_fire/2008/01/maggots-turn-to.html

Oooh, breaking news from the heartland of Greater Wingnuttia. Michelle Malkin is reporting that John McCain is being funded by George Soros.

I'm not kidding. She is actually saying that. It is all very complicated, and the Detailed Research Proof involves Ed Morrisey and then Discover the Networks, and frantic Googling, and the Trilateral Commission and Liberal Fascism and Otto von Bismarck and Worf and sinister Hobbits and Pop Rocks and shit.

You know, as messed up as the Dems are this cycle, I'm going to go ahead and declare that, as always, the real crazy fun is over on the other side. Malkin quite clearly wants McCain dead, his family dead, his house burned to the ground, etc. It's going to be hard to back off from that sort of kookiness -- not that I don't think they're fully capable of such gymnastics.

3. I could see the conservatives willing to have McCain be the sacrificial lamb
do you think that they will be willing to let McCain "go down in flames" so they can blame the Bush legacy on the next Dem president and then come back into power in 4 years?

5. Wow, me and Man On Dog agree on something: I don't like McCain either.
Seriously, I couldn't care less about Repubs pulling out the brickbats on other Repubs--in fact, I think it's awesome.

Blabbering about how horrible McCain is. I didn't bother reading it to let it sink in.

7. Another republicon freeper chickenhawk, likely
I'd bet an eclair on this one...and know full well I was making a safe bet.

He probably listens to notorious republicon chickenhawk propagandist Sean Hannity...

Sigh...such sad characters.

Mothers, don't let your babies grow up to be phony pretend cowboys who desert their National Guard unit, or -- equally heinous -- republicon homelander chickenhawks.
