It happened exactly as we expected would happen. A fraudulent pResident who led a massacre of hundreds of thousands in Iraq took the stage and got a standing ovation.
As he stood behind the podium he was applauded by the both elected and the Diebold selected.
The rest of us were not applauding though. We were not applauding when we saw a man stand up for corporate power over human rights. We were not applauding when we heard him call for tax cuts for the rich and service cuts for the rest of us. We were not applauding when we heard him brag about how “successful” the illegal occupation of Iraq has been. We were not applauding any criminals tonight.
Yet we saw our so-called “representatives” stand up and cheer the man who is working hard to run our country further into the abyss. We saw them cheer and we saw them smile, but of course tomorrow they will tell us they didn't really agree with the speech they were giving multiples standing ovations to. No they didn't agree with it, they were just standing up and cheering to be polite.
You see apparently in order to be “polite” and “respectful” it is required that people stand up and cheer a man who lies, tortures, kills, cheats, and steals. In order to be polite they have sit with a huge ass grin on their faces while a criminal tells us of his plans, knowing full well that the people cheering for him under the Capitol rotunda will allow him to get by with his criminal acts.
And while they stand up and cheer people are sleeping on the streets, people are having their limbs blown off in and illegal war, global warming is threatening our planet, our Constitution is being shredded, and people are being sent to secret prisons and tortured. But the still stand up and cheer, they stand up and cheer because they think they need to be polite.
Well I am sick of them being polite. If they want to cheer when they look at this man then they should wait until they can watch him being put in handcuffs and dragged off to the Hague, because that would be the only time it would be appropriate to cheer in his presence.
It is time to stop the cheerleading, it is time to refuse to bow to this criminal. It is time to impeach and imprison the criminals and start this nation on a new path. It is a time to stop cheering and start fighting. It is time to quit pretending the state of this union is strong, and time to make it strong.
It is time to stop cheering the demise of America.
