Poll question: What to do with Bushco. after January 2009?
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 02:20 PM by Deep13
What will happen to the people who stole two national elections, outed a CIA agent, started and continued a disastrous war, were corrupt to the gills, controlled and censored the national media, committed torture and held people in defiance of international and Constitutional law, gave the Federal treasury away to rich friends and have in every way possible undermined the Constitution, ignored warnings about 9/11, abused the public trust and set themselves up as Caesars?

All of these options assume compliance with legal requirements: indictments, trials, appeals, whatever.

Which option is closest to what you support. (You may infer an "other" option by posting your own idea.)

1. need a "send them all to the Hague" option
because facing justice in an international court is the only way we're going to begin to regain respect abroad.

7. my fondest wish for this lying, thieving murderous bunch of thugs is that ALL
of them spend the rest of their lives in a communal cell (and yes, this includes condi) with ONE toilet, completely surrounded by a walkway where people can come and stare at them, like zoo animals, and, twenty four hours a day, at completely random intervals, the sights and sounds of the dead and dying and wounded in iraq, afghanistan and our gulf states will be shown and heard (oh, and maybe somebody reading the constitution aloud to them on a daily basis.

8. I'd like a long, open trial...
with lots and lots of charges, and lots and lots of convictions. I'd like the White House and Congressional Books opened wide for all to see. Then I'd let other countries take their shots and prosecuting for the more serious war crimes perpetrated on their people. At the end of that I don't give a shit.

11. Too inefficient
I'd prefer a guillotine, or maybe one of those bolt thingies they use at the slaughterhouse.

14. My money says that they're going to get away and that politicians are too scared to go after them.
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 03:04 PM by Selatius
But that's just my opinion. The US has raped untold nations for their resources and gotten away with it. Why would Iraq be any different?

Personally, I think they should be sent to the Hague. A man can dream. A man can dream.

17. It's not only crimes against humanity. (Only? Wow!)
They also violated the law here with the CIA outing, the false statements to Congress etc.

18. Right, exactly.

Damn! I forgot about the wiretapping. There are too many crimes to keep track of.

I know what you mean. A mere change in Constitutional leadership should not provoke a Mary Tudor kind of vengeance. But that's not what we have here. First, I would never support any extra-constitutional measures. Any retribution would have to follow proper indictments and trial on lawful charges. Second, this is not merely a change of leadership. Bush tried (and just about succeeded) in turning the presidency into a monarchical institution where Congress is just a rubber stamp with no real power.
